TLDR: Aram should stop working on platinum and claiming he can secure micro diamonds when he can't. He should have refused to work on my ring since he did not have the right tools. Instead, he mislead me into believing he could do the job and botched it so badly that the band (excluding the main setting) has to be replaced. He can't be trusted: he covered up his mistakes and kindly shuffled me out of the door. The cost of those mistakes is $700, but I would pay much more than that for my fiance to have her original engagement ring as a whole.
FULL STORY: I found Strada when I searched platinum ring resizing on google and it appeared as a top result with 4.9 stars. I needed to get my fiance's platinum engagement ring resized from 5.5 to 4.75. I spoke to Aram and asked him if he could do it, to which he said yes, but since he did not have a laser welder it would come out with a faint line at the weld. No problem. I also asked him if he could resecure the diamonds in the band after the resizing and he agreed. The ring cracked a few months later at the weld.
I took it to a jeweler specializing in platinum (with a laser welder) to get it redone and he told me the truth: 1) the diamonds in the band had not been secured and it was a matter of time until they would fall out 2) two of the diamonds in the band had been burnt by the torch (ie. need to be replaced) 3) the platinum was pitted 4) too much material had been grinded off the band 5) white gold was used in the weld NOT platinum 6) the band could not be repaired since it was delicate (thin) and the materials had been mixed. I was so upset I went to another jeweler specializing in custom platinum right away and he confirmed all of these things on his own volition. The 2nd jeweler also mentioned that perhaps the reason why Aram didn't secure the diamonds in the band was because he did not have the correct tools to secure microsettings.
Looking back, when my Fiance and I were evaluating Aram's resize job in his shop, I remember noticing one or two of the diamonds in the setting looking very dirty. When I told Aram he said it's just a little clay in the settings and it will come out next time when you come in for a free cleaning. LOL what a great cover for burning my diamonds, I wonder who else he...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIt is no wonder Aram has over 500 reviews and still maintains a 5 star rating! He has resized my jewellery on two different occasions now and his work is always well-done, quick and competitively priced. He is also an absolute pleasure to work with - he is very personable and you can really tell he genuinely enjoys his craft!
I no longer live in the city but drove 3 hours to have him resize my engagement ring because my local jewellers did not perform resizing in house; had long turnover times; and were significantly more expensive. I also really didn't feel comfortable sending my engagement ring away for weeks at a time to an unknown third party. Aram's work is conducted right in his workshop and he even lets you stay and watch as he works on your jewellery, if you'd like. The resizing was completed within an hour both times. He also tightened the centre stone of my engagement ring (which I did not even realize was loose) and cleaned my ring, free of charge. Both times my jewellery came back looking even better than it did the day I received it and you cannot tell any work was done.
He also responds quickly to inquiries. My first resizing was a walk-in but I recommend emailing him for an appointment as, given the quality of his services and his skill, he has been quite busy both times...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAram is among the best in the business in several ways. His customer service is top notch and he goes well beyond expectations to satisfy his clients. My partner and I had Aram custom make our wedding bands and he exceeded our expectations in that his finished product looked better than the picture/design we had sent him.
Going further, we wanted to engrave something meaningful to us inside the bands. Aram said he would make it happen and that it would take a couple of weeks total (making the bands from scratch and sending it to his engraver). Shortly after we put our order in to Aram, COVID-19 closed down essentially everything for months. Before picking up our bands a couple of months later, Aram informed us that his engraver had to permanently close down due to the pandemic. We were disappointed but completely understood. When we went to pick up our bands, Aram surprised us with the engravings. He actually went out of his way hours before we were scheduled to pick up and found an engraver who was able to get the job done. Even though our wedding ceremony was cancelled because of COVID-19, we will always be grateful for the exceptional service provided by Aram. I would strongly recommend Aram for all of your jewellery needs and wants. If you want a guarantee, he...
