I had an extremely frustrating experience today. I patiently waited in line, eager to deposit my cheque and cash, which amounted to $2,700 from the cheque and $2,800 from my rental income. To my astonishment, the teller somehow managed to complete the transaction in a way that showed $2,700 deposited via cheque and $2,800 cash withdrawn on my receipt.
Excuse me, but I can recognize a mistake when I see one, and this seemed far from accidental. Instead, it appeared intentional. The teller concluded the transaction, leaving me with the false impression that everything was properly deposited. In reality, my cheque for $2,700 might have been deposited as intended, but the teller essentially pocketed the $2,800 cash I had brought in for deposit. To make matters worse, an additional $2,800 in cash was somehow marked as a withdrawal, bringing the total to $5,600.
If I hadn't meticulously checked the receipt to confirm its accuracy, I could have easily had $5,600 mysteriously vanish from my account. This experience is nothing short of ridiculous and entirely unacceptable. It ranks as the worst service, if not the most suspicious service, I've ever encountered compared to any other bank.
EDIT: This specific branch has consistently provided good service to me in the past, with the exception of my recent experience.
I received a callback from the branch, and they not only offered a sincere apology but also assured me that the amounts were properly adjusted. It's reassuring to see their commitment to resolving...

I got a message saying open a high interest saving account with us and get a 4.5% interest rate. I think it is too good to be true. I took the bait, my bad
I open the account using their webpage, the webpage crashes, I managed to open the account but couldn't get a customer ID number. System says their having technical difficulties, I call customer service, they have no idea what I'm talking about, almost as if I would have called another bank, they keep me 30 min on the phone asking for the same questions over and over again. Final advice: go to your nearest branch. I go to a branch a couple of ours latter, same deal, agent has absolutely no idea how to solve such a simple problem, but tells me they actually open an account for me with 0.3% interest rate. The 4.5% was just the bait. I complain about this, they tell me I should have taken an appointment if I want to talk about this, but this time they'll make an exception. They sent me to an office to talk to an account executive. She confirms they open a cheap as account for me. She advices I log in my Tangerine banking session on my phone. Page is super hard to navigate. She takes over my phone and gets lost in the page of her own bank. Advices to get the app. After 5 hours doing this I tell her to close the account and forget about it. Doesn't work online, doesn't work over the phone and it doesn't work in person....
Read moreI had high hopes for this bank. They have bank accounts catered for disabled folks, but yet their services are less accessible than my other bank. It's closed when I need it most and it seems like everything needs to be done in person (which isn't very disability accessible, especially when it's an exhausting Uphill trek from the SkyTrain station.)
When I set up my account, I was told I would be sent the information a month later to sign up for online banking. That information never came and now I would have to go in person again to get online banking set up. Despite this, they still send me only eStatements, which I have absolutely no way to view at home which has now delayed my application for disability assistance.
I was hoping I could rebuild my credit score with this bank. But I think I will need to look for that elsewhere.
EDIT: I was phoned by someone who claimed to be a representative and they helped me with online banking. Briefly, I was able to log online as I wanted. But after the call, it stopped working again. Vancity now claims that was a scammer and my account has been compromised (took an hour long phone call) The 'scammer' was clearly very familiar with the Vancity system and layouts. Never had a problem like this with any other bank. Now I really never want to touch Vancity ever again. Not...
