Called ahead to make sure we could come before closing and were told yes, they could take four people. We show up and suddenly they’re “about to close.” Then the guy acts annoyed, checks with someone, and lets us in. He tells us they only have seafood broth, which we said was fine, but still comes over pissed off, slams the menus on the table, and acts like we’re a burden. If your staff can’t handle basic communication or treat people with respect, then you shouldn’t be running a restaurant. Total disrespect, zero professionalism, and a complete waste of time. How embarrassing. Never coming back. What a joke, lol. You said we showed up at 8:40 and that you mentioned your last seating was 8:30 over the phone. This is a blatant lie. As you can see in the screenshot I attached, we called you at 8:18 from Pho Super Bowl and asked exactly this: “Can you accommodate four people in 10 minutes?” And if you can do basic math, which you clearly can’t, that means we would be arriving at 8:30. As you can see from the Google Maps attachment, from Pho Super Bowl to your place, it takes 10 minutes. And if your cutoff is at 8:30 and you had actually told us that, then we obviously wouldn’t have come to your place. Because who would show up right at the cutoff time? No one with common sense would plan to arrive at the exact cutoff time knowing it would be a burden on both you and us. And also, if that’s not enough proof that we didn’t arrive at 8:40, at 8:41 my sister’s husband called her and we were already in the car driving to a different place by that time. Before that, we were literally standing outside your restaurant figuring out where else to eat. So we had left way before 8:40. And if you’re still going to hold on to your lie, then show us footage of us inside your restaurant at 8:40. It would clearly show timestamps and my sister picking up that call at 8:41 if what you’re saying is true. The fact that instead of admitting you guys messed up, you’re lying and trying to shift the blame is actually funny. And from what I’ve seen in other reviews, this seems to be a pattern with you — always deflecting and putting it on the customer. Not once did anyone apologize for how rude your staff was, slamming the menus on the table and acting like we were the problem, even though you were the ones who said we could come. If you’re going to lie, at least make it believable. Next time, own up to your mistake and do better instead of trying to deflect.

Having settled in Kerrisdale for over a month, it is time to explore some of the restaurants in the neighbourhood. I found this Vietnamese restaurant is often full house during lunch, so I think it must be worth trying. To tell whether a Vietnamese restaurant is authentic of not, the first thing to try is their beef noodle (pho). I ordered a large size raw beef with beef stomach noodle. They served it with basil leaves and beansprouts. I took a sip of the soup, tasted good! The soup base was well balanced, seems it has no/low MSG added. The beef was fresh and became well-done in the water soup. It tasted perfectly with the basil leaves and beansprouts immersed in the soup with a few drops of lime juice. The large portion is good enough to keep you full of energy in the whole afternoon. I walked 10km after the lunch to get it digested. It is worthy to mention they exercised the precautions for COVID-19 seriously. They are doing a good job to clean and sanitise the table properly right after the customer left. The servers were friendly and they had a good observation on what you needed before you asked for it. I think I will be back again for more tasting of their side dishes especially the Vietnamese fried spring rolls.

Great dinner at Pho Tan, our first time at this restaurant! Service was friendly and when the restaurant wasn't full, they had no issues with our group of 3 occupying a table that comfortably sat 6. Had the large Pho Tai (sliced rare beef). Good portion size for $15.50 with an abundance of rice noodles. Aside from the onions and additional bean sprouts, it's quite plain, but I thought it was homey and comforting. Broth was fragrant and light, and I finished it all - I always like to add the lime for an added citrus note! Others had their Spring Roll & Grilled Lemongrass Chicken (or Pork) on Vermicelli. No issues and satisfied our Vietnamese cravings! The staff topped up our water and tea promptly, and even checked in throughout the meal on how our food was. Would return!

I’ve been going to Pho Tan for 10+ years with the one on Main Street, then Kerrisdale and now it’s location on Kingsway. My friend and I ordered the Satay Beef Pho + Spicy Fried Squid. The female owner was serving our table and I was excited to tell her how much I loved their food which has got me coming back all the time and especially happy that they reopened again, but I was hit with an uninterested and annoyed response by the owner. She took the order and brought the soup right away which ended up being super thick and the noodles were congealed together, I unfortunately had to add water to the soup which still didn’t do much. The spicy squid came 20 minutes later which tasted like you’re eating rubber, and to add to that, it wasn’t spicy at all.

Then while we were eating, the owner started singing out loud and jamming with her head to the loud music… it really killed the atmosphere and made us feel uncomfortable. I usually finish the soup fully but I couldn’t get myself to do that this time so I had asked for a takeout container so that I could thin the soup out at home to my liking. The owner gave us the take out containers and failed to mention that they were 50 cents each. Her service was terrible to say the least, which made us hesitant to even want to leave a tip.

This place used to be amazing but honestly the quality of the food and service has gone downhill. I don’t recommend it to my...

I am customer for many years and I brought my friends to eat many times too. But yesterday when my daughter and I went to the restaurant around 3:30 PM, the only table in the restaurant at that moment, the waitress ( fat woman) who looked like I owed her money face, super rude. We ordered two bowls pho and lemonade and red bea, after the ph came, the lemonade still waited 10 minutes later and no any service when we ate there, no add water. The pho quality went to down a lot too, I never be there anymore, I will tell my friends shouldn’t be there to spend any penny. PS: thanks for reply, but you said totally not true. Before we sat, I asked you where were more easier for you, then we sat on the chair and you brought the warm tea and cold water, I was polite to ask” Could you mind change to cold tea, please?” I told my daughter by herself walked to cashier and asked for a straw. Except that which service you DID? Talking about the Fresh lemonade and red bean 70% ice in them. The noodles in the bowl were cloted, not fresh at all. If I was rude person like you said, through your whole poorly service why I still paid 12% tips to you? I went to the restaurant for happy eating , not deserved to spend money on rude service and poorly foods. As you said the new customer came, when they came, we almost finished. Please be honest to see what you did to...
