---Jul 2025--- This time I tried the deep fried fish. Either it wasn't fried enough or the sauce sat on the fish for too long. It wasn't crispy. Only the far edge pieces were crispy. Fries were nice and crispy. Good portion for the cost. The boneless ribs were just short rib pieces. The amount is very little. Flavor is nothing special. Casava fries were disappointing. Not crispy at all. ---2021--- This is the second African-Indian restaurant I have been to, the first being Simba's Grill where I had some curry that wasn't very good. So, I thought I would try something different. We had complimentary mini drinks that had mango and some herbs in it. Was reall good and I hope they have it in their menus later. I ordered the Cassava fries and the African Chili Chicken with pili pili sauce. The sides were fries and pili pili corn. I had the Cassava fries with medium spice and it was great. Perfectly fried. I feel it is better than the ones I had at Simba's Grill. I'm not sure what pili pili tastes like but the chicken with pili pili tasted really different from the pili pili corn. The sauce for the chicken was delicious. The spice adds up overtime was it wasnt overly spicy. The chicken was moist. The fries were also really crispy and well done. The corn however, were tough and the sauce was different and did not taste as good as the pili pili for the chicken. I had a taste of the Lamb biryani and I felt many Indian places can do the dish better. I'm not sure how good their curry is but the 5 stars is for the chili chicken and cassava fries.

Was very wary of this place coming in as many of the prior reviews mentioned sketchy behaviour from Jambo Grill. I came here with a party of ~18 work colleagues for lunch around 12pm on a Thursday. We were seated at separate tables and had ordered off their website to make it easier for the restaurant people. A couple of us ordered the Kuku Choma which was listed twice on the website, once as $14.95 and again under "Lunch Specials" for $12.95 (available Monday to Friday from 11am to 3pm). I won't get into the portion for this dish; it was quite small but wasn't awful in terms of taste. Upon seeing the bill, a bunch of us noticed the prices were different (ie: $14.95 instead of $12.95). When I asked the owner, he said "the website is 3-4 years old, you're looking at old price". First of all, what's the point of advertising prices and menu items you do not offer? Second of all, why is your alleged "old menu" showing the same regular prices that you are charging? Doesn't take much of a nose to smell the stink a mile away. Be wary of Jambo Grill, especially if you take issue with dishonest business practices.

Update: food is still tasty and good and still would come here again after covid. Not during covid. Waiting area had no spacing. Should tell ppl to wait outside the restaurant rather than all wait inside, making pickups for delivery drivers and take out orders unsafe to collect the food. Could see people were uncomfortable walking out the door since we were all in close proximity. Staff (I think owner) was touching their face, puts mask on, touches outside of mask then walks to a table and starts talking to ppl while touching the table. There was a table of 6 which didn't look like the same household unless 3 couples of similar age live together or the parents had exactly 3 daughters and 3 sons very close in age. Maybe not the role of restaurant to enforce restrictions on guests but again, made me feel that this place is not safe during covid and I've been to places where the largest group during this current restrictions was 3, max 4 ppl. felt very uncomfortable so I'll wait until after covid to eat here or takeout. Food was good though. Food was good, service was friendly!!

DON'T GO HERE. Service is terrible and manager is very rude. Take your money somewhere else. The only reason i'm even giving one star is because I'm required to put a star to post this review. If you ever want to laugh and have $13 to spare, order their prawn lollipop as you will get 6 pieces of prawn floating in something that looks like jal-jeera.

We ordered 2 dishes. - Kuku paka (with rice) and prawn lollipop (with garlic naan). The first arrived was the prawn lollipop- it looked more like prawns floating in a very thin watery curry and nothing like lollipop dishes are meant to look like, and didn't look appetizing at all. Not to mention the curry was not even hot. The garlic naan had no garlic on it. We decided not to eat it and wanted the waitress to take it back. Our server came by and she said she cannot take back/cancel the order. We fortunately had another waiter come by and we told him we didn't want to eat the prawn "lollipops". He took the dish back to the kitchen and said he would take it off the bill.

Then came the kuku paka. It was missing a hard boiled egg (one of the main ingredients of the dish) and the pan it was served in, was missing a handle (you could see the screws where the handle was supposed to be). As soon as we noticed this, a man arrived to our table (I believe he was the owner) and asked us what the issue was and we respectively explained what had happened. Instead of respecting the customer's complaints, he started blaming us very very rudely for not liking "their style of prawn lollipop". He mentioned he's been selling it for the past 12 year, and asked us how could we not like it. We asked him why that dish was named prawn lollipop. He didn't answer the question and went onto talking to us rudely for not liking it, repeatedly placing the blame on us. Not even once did he offer to make it in a different way or feel bad for not us not having a good experience at his restaurant. Anyways, we told him we didn't want to eat that dish and he asked if we wanted kuku paka fixed and we said yes. A waitress came back with the kuku paka, this time with a boiled egg after 20 mins of wait and also brought a new dish of rice. Kuku paka tasted ok. Pretty bland with rice but not bad. We ate it, paid the bill and left as soon as possible. All this while, none of the waiters/waitresses filled our water glasses. We even noticed the table beside us had asked 3 different waiters for water but none of them ever came back to them with water.

This was a terrible experience for us. We would recommend people not to visit this place and really hope that the management are reading...

Went here with my family. Ordered a platter, butter chicken and Lamb Biryani. Everything was absolutely delicious.

Our server was Karan. He was patient, knew the menu very well, and gave us some great recommendations based on our dietary preferences. He, and the rest of the servers were very attentive when it came to refilling our chai when we ran low. They would also make sure we knew when they were making a new pot to ensure we received the freshest chai possible. The owner came by to greet us and crack a few jokes as well, which felt nice. He definitely means business, and runs a tight ship, but that has translated to a quality staff and good food.

While the food did take a bit to come out of the kitchen, it wasn't too long of a wait, and was well worth it.

The butter chicken was better than any we had ever had. The gravy was perfect, and savoury, apparently due to the lack of sugar and artifical colours that most restaurants add to give that sweet, orange/yellow sauce you might expect from butter chicken. A definite must-have.

The platter we had consisted of different east african barbecued meats. The jungle ribs were a definite highlight on the platter. When the different meats were paired with the tamarind sauce that comes with it, (which was on the sweeter side) it definitely did add to the experience. It hydrated some of the meats that were on the drier side due to them being cooked in the tandoori oven.

It's definitely worth it to try the Piri Piri sauce, especially if you like spice. Be careful however, as the spice doesn't hit you right away, but will give you a pleasant pop a few moments after trying it.

The lamb Biryani is a great option for those who enjoy that comfort food feel. It's definitely something you can dive into and eat a lot of.

For dessert we had Gonja, as recommended by Karan. It's a caramelized plantain dish that is paired with ice cream that is supposedly an east-african staple. The ice cream cuts through the richness of the plantain, making for a well-balanced finish to a wonderful meal.

All in all, the service is wonderful, the food is delicious and intriguing. Definitely worth it to be adventurous and try something you haven't tried before here. We will be...

We recently had the pleasure of working with Jambo Grill for a catered event, and I cannot recommend them highly enough! From start to finish, the entire experience was seamless and exceeded all our expectations. The food was absolutely incredible, and every single guest raved about how delicious and flavorful everything was. The team at Jambo Grill truly knows how to bring authentic, mouthwatering dishes to life. This wasn’t our first time enjoying Jambo Grill’s amazing food and service—we’ve dined at their restaurant more than a few times, and every experience has been nothing short of excellent. Whether it’s the warm, inviting atmosphere of the restaurant or the consistent quality of their food, Jambo Grill always delivers. So naturally, they were the first choice when it came to catering our event, and they didn’t disappoint! A special shoutout to Ramesh, who went above and beyond to ensure that everything was perfect. His patience and willingness to accommodate all of our specific requests did not go unnoticed. Whether it was adjusting the menu to meet dietary preferences or handling last-minute changes with a calm and professional demeanor, Ramesh made the entire process stress-free for us. He truly embodies what exceptional customer service is all about. The feedback from our guests has been nothing but glowing. Everyone had such positive things to say about the variety, quality, and presentation of the food. It’s clear that Jambo Grill puts their heart and soul into every dish they prepare, and it shows in the smiles of satisfied guests. This experience has left a lasting impression not only on us but also on everyone who attended. It’s no exaggeration to say that Jambo Grill has earned lifelong customers through their dedication and attention to detail.
