FreshCo Major Mackenzie & Weston — Local services in Vaughan

Not sure who or how this store is being managed but noticed a change in the past year or so with respect to cleanliness, quality and customer service. Produce is often of poor quality. Reduced rack is literally rotting produce. The independent butcher located at this store is decent. One of the young girl cashiers on cash today was extremely rude and abrupt. As she was processing an order for an elderly senior, the cashier came out of her station, with a bag in hand, and proceeded to remove tomatoes from the boxes that had been purchased by the customer. Cashier accused the customer of topping up the box and proceeded to aggressively remove maybe 10 or 15 small tomatoes from the boxes while scolding the customer. The customer was speechless, almost frightened by the cashier's actions because it was so aggressive. Regardless of whether this was the case, the situation could have been handled very differently and in a more professional manner. And really Freshco....10 tomatoes? Really?? Shortly after that interaction, the cashier seemed to be arguing with another customer regarding an item incorrectly priced item. Again, very rude. Not to mention when scanning orders she literally tosses items down the belt, even items that should be handled delicately. There are 1or 2 cashiers at this location who are consistently amazing. This location has always been very convenient for me and my family, including my daughter's own household, who also lives in the neighborhood (she has four children). Even though we have many other supermarkets within close proximity, like two Longos, Fortinos, Walmart, Coppa's, and Nofrills, to mention a few, I think FreshCo brings the perfect balance between the Gourmet type and the most popular on the other end. The pharmacy service is great and adds value the shopping experience. I moved my drug service from next door Shoppers DrugMart, after ten years of being a loyal customer because I found huge differences in price, even for same brand products. They also honor their competition coupons. When you add their friendly service and great customer service, it's very easy choice for me and my family at least. It's my "trademark" to always leave room for improvement. This is the reason I don't give max number of stars, eventhough I have done it in the past. This store has some good and bad points. It's open late and has most of the essentials. Prices are decent on some things, but comparatively expensive on others like fish and meats. Checking out can also be a challenge as there is usually only one express lane open and it can have a line stretching all the way down the aisle. I popped in 10 mins before closing to grab 2 or 3 items. There was barely anyone in the store shopping so I figured checkout would be quick and painless. Boy was I wrong! Someone decided to close down all the tills except for express. Just as I got in line someone with a half full cart was in the process of checking out. Then a moment later an employee jumped the line and got in front of me! She didn't look back to see if there was anyone behind her waiting in line, or maybe she simply didn't care. I was standing well back to keep distance and not block anyone or anything. What is going on Freshco!? Why are employees jumping the line and cashing out before customers?
