The Peak Tram is one of the world's oldest and most famous funicular railways. Opened in May 1888, the double reversible funicular railway, as it is technically known, rises from 28m to 396m above sea level along a 1.4 km track with a gradient of between 4 to 25.7 degrees. As one of Hong Kong's most popular tourist attractions, the Peak Tram terminates at The Peak Tower shopping and entertainment complex, which has some of the world's greatest panoramic views. The Peak Tram runs every 10 to 15 minutes from 7:30am to 11pm; booking in advance or using an Octopus/JoyYou card to pay for the ticket will help reduce your queuing time. Note that the ticket office will push the fare that includes entry to the Sky Terrace 428 viewing deck (HK$136/168 per one way/return). Be sure to sit on the righthand side going up for the best views. The Lower Terminus is at 33 Garden Rd. Central. The Upper or PeakTerminus is in the lower level of the Peak Tower up in Victoria Peak. The Peak Tram's route from Central district to Victoria Peak covers a distance of about 1.4 kilometres (0.87 mi) and an elevation of just under 400 metres (1,312 ft). The line has two pronounced curves, one to the left immediately after leaving the lower terminus, and the other to the right in the upper half of the ascent. The gradient also varies considerably throughout the ascent. The Peak Tram is a funicular tramway - one where the upward and downward trams act as counterweights for each other so two trams are required for its operation. As it is a single track tramway, a passing loop is needed for the two trams to pass each other - this is located just uphill from the May Road station. There are four intermediate stops, each of which is a request stop consisting of a single stepped platform and a shelter: Kennedy Road (堅尼地道): named after Arthur Edward Kennedy, a former Governor of Hong Kong. MacDonnell Road (麥當勞道): named after Richard Graves MacDonnell, a former Governor of Hong Kong. May Road (梅道): named after Francis Henry May, a former Governor of Hong Kong. Barker Road (白加道): named after George Digby Barker, a former military commander and acting administrator...

Man kann tolle Fotos machen und der zusätzliche Eintritt für die Terrassen sollte investiert werden. Wir haben das Kombiticket nicht bereut und hatten eine tolle Aussicht...
