Le Clos de Laure - épicerie rue Verdi — Local services in Nice

I visited this shop on the last day of my vacation with my girlfriend looking for local foods to bring home to my family, and I was absolutely amazed. The store is beautiful, and all of the products are elegantly packaged. Everything is made by the owner and his small team with local, high-quality produce from Nice and Côte d'Azur.

We were lucky to meet the owner, Jean-Luc, who is the sweetest man I have ever met. He is extremely knowledgeable about all of his products, and was able to help with every question we had. Even though we arrived 15 minutes before closing, he kept his shop open an hour longer just for us, and we had wonderful conversations! He generously gave samples of many products, all of which tasted amazing and only made my decision of what to buy more difficult. I wish I could have bought every item in the store! I was so impressed that I brought my friends there at opening the next morning before my flight and bought even more.

They carry sauces, marinades, jams, syrups, oils, and everything in between. Also, everything is so cheap! You will not be disappointed. I can't wait to try all of the things I bought. Thank you Jean-Luc, and I hope we cross paths...

We went to the location in Vieux Nice that opened fairly recently and were amazed by the passion and knowledge that we experienced while shopping for our products. The owner, who is also the son of the founders, was very kind and did a great job in explaining each product and its origins to us in English.

Great little jelly/spread shop. Run by father-son team, incredibly knowledgeable friendly, and all made by them. Would highly suggest as a gift for someone close. But don't be afraid to ask them what they use the jam for, you would be surprised what type of dish they imagined it for. It is also dirt cheap (7€ a normal jar) considering that Stonewall Kitchen/etc in the US is maybe 3-4x the price for something...
