Fair enough, this cinema hasn't changed much over the last 30 years - and the facilities would deserve a serious refurbishment. But this is the best theatre in Nice (alongside the also not very modern Mercury on Place Garibaldi) to catch the best arthouse & independent movies. This is the place where I discovered the movies of the Coen brothers, Theo Angelopoulos, Wim Wenders, Claire Denis and many more when I was a teenager. This is a place where they will show any movie regardless of the number of people sitting in the screening. So for that, Rialto deserves 5 stars ! And as a bonus, you are 500m away from the glamorous Promenade des Anglais and the Negresco Hotel....

You still need to get your digital ticket scanned - which means you need to line up in the ticket queue - at which point you get given a paper ticket. Very silly and bureaucratic. In addition there’s no allocated seating. We also found you get routinely ordered about in a wholly unfriendly manner....
