I have gone to Blue Beach several times over the last 5 years, so maybe let’s call this maybe a change in management. I will say that firstly, most of the staff managing the chairs are amazing and the food is almost unparalleled. However, when I experience discrimination, it must be called-out. So, here is what happened: Day 1: I go to take one of the outside showers. The water was already running from a group before me that I saw left it on. The associate proceeds to walk up to me to ask me to turn it off when I am done (which I did); however, he did not approach the woman after me to share the same message… Day 2: We have coffee at the breakfast chairs and then ask the attendee if we can go for a quick swim—we were not going to get seats because our flight left in
Read moreI don’t like writing reviews, especially bad ones. Nonetheless, I should warn anyone who is reading that. Choose another restaurant. Further I specify my own experience of having dinner here. It was crowdy, so we had to wait in their bar (cocktails are small and not the best). The service was poor. Seemed like they don’t actually care about you, despite one standard emotionless question: “Did you like the meal”. The food tasteless. It felt like there were cooking for hospital patients (almost with no salt or other spices). The most flavorous part of our dinner was a small leaf salad (thanks to balsamic vinegar). The octopus was overcooked and again with no taste. Also about service but decided to put it separately. Trying to trick you so much to make you pay more. Anyway that’s so typical of any coastal restaurant. Offering the most expensive bottles of water (0,7 liters even if you’re only 2 and already have cocktails each)… But what actually made me mad was that the waiter even managed to take the payment change of 4€ (not so much but it was quite rude) as tips. And I told that I want him to bring the change but he missed what I’d said and took the whole payment telling me “thank you, thank you” as if I allowed to keep it… As I wrote before, definitely don’t recommend going there. P.S. The second star is only for the...
Read moreWe sat at one of the tables on the beach.
The atmosphere is that of the beach at Nice, so the setting is comfortable with an excellent view. We were there is early March on a pleasantly cool sunny day, which doubtless added to the enjoyment. We were seated at a table with a parasol, which we thought was needed even this time of year.
To start we both had salade Nicoise, as it seemed a shame not to. I'm not sure the huge slabs of beefsteak tomato were quite right, but it was well enough prepared.
For the mains, my companion had Sole meunière, which she said was very nice indeed. I do remember a great deal of butter... I had the giant prawn (I can't remember what that's called in French) which was just like a small lobster, and absolutely delicious. To wash it all down we had a bottle of Bandol Blanc. I never even knew that Bandol made white wine, but this was a great surprise. An excellent wine, perfect for seafood.
The service was prompt and friendly, and our waiter spoke much better English than either of us spoke French.
All in all, a very memorable lunch in a...
