Bio Brod — Restaurant in Nice

I never visited a bakery so many times per week like I did at Bio Brot! This place is the place to go if you are also looking for cakes that are gluten free and vegan!

I can only talk for those options since I am vegan and gluten free but my friends said that also the other options were delicious as well.😍

Not only are the workers treating you like a friend but also it tastes like homemade, delicious bio food! This place never disappointed! Most of the time I went, they were switching up the cakes! So you never knew what new thing they would create!

If I have to complain about 1 thing it is that my wallet got thinner but my smile got brighter after leaving the Bakery!

Sadly, I am moving out from Nice, but I am so happy that the owner shared their blueberry vegan and gluten-free cake recipe with me!! I will try to make it for Christmas and share a piece of Nice and the magic of Bio Brot with my family!

Finding ourselves stranded in Nice, with a desperate need to gastronomically re-immerse ourselves into French culture after five years away, we stumbled upon a gem of a baker and a man with regional pride, who reestablished within us a long held belief that French patisserie ‘rules the world’ in terms of flavour, quality of ingredients, a sense of ‘place’ and a true understanding of how to create patisserie without compromise. We stayed at Bio Brod and enjoyed two pastries with a café frappé. Firstly a Chausson aux Pommes with flaky, buttery pastry and a filling of sweet but sharply flavoured apple purée - a local speciality. Our second delight was a cranberry ‘escargot’ with an equally fresh yeasty and butter-enriched ‘cloud’ of loveliness - well proved and perfectly baked. I was unfortunately very disappointed with my visit to Bio Brod. I read amazing reviews and they popped up on all the gluten free recommendations in Nice. They have a gluten free section with selected gluten free options. Not everything was gluten free. The gluten free options were much less interesting and much more expensive than the normal options. I had a little gluten free carrot cake for around €4,50 and a Matcha latte. The Matcha latte was the worst matcha latte I have ever taken outside the house. There was soo much undissolved Matcha powder that every time I would take a sip, my mouth would be full of Matcha powder. I did not feel the employees would accept my complaint and request for a new Matcha latte and so I just left with a bad experience. The toilet was also very dirty and you could not even...
