It was really hard for me to grade this restaurant so low, because I really enjoyed the theater part. It was very fun, a fresh experience, and overall the house is lovely, decorated well and on theme.
The reason why I was obligated to give 2 stars was because of the food. The starters were ok, the mushroom soup was tasty and the quality of the carpaccio fish was also a good level. However the rest of the ingredients that were presented with the fish didn’t interplay at all, and for the soup there was a lack of textures, it absolutely needed some crunch or something to add some layering to the dish.
Now this is where it gets ugly… the main plates were very bad. The flavor of the fresh cod was covered by olive oil and the eggplant on the side was also edible but it made absolutely no sense together with the fish. It felt like eating two different dishes and failing when trying to mix them together. The lamb dish was also confusing… the quality of the lamb was high, hence it being tender, but everything else around it was wrong. The sauce was far too liquid presenting way too much olive oil, like the cod, and a side of a piece of fennel which made no addition to the dish’s flavors. I’m confused to why the sauce couldn’t have been made into a reduction and the fennel used in a more creative way.
To conclude our meal the deserts were the worst part. I was hoping for something good to maybe give a 3 star, but these really pushed my grading down to 2. The agrume carpaccio was just some orange slices with its skin cut up and thrown onto the dish. While the baked apple was accompanied by sour cream and a completely melted ice cream which together became an awful warm soupish liquid which made the apple taste even worse.
Especially for the price of the menu, even if part of the price is for the show, you HAVE to give better quality food. A suggestion to this restaurant is to change chef ASAP. It has so much potential since the venue, the idea, and the acting is so on point. If only the food was also the same level as what I mentioned, I would have gladly...
Read moreThe food was really delicious and they had great veggie meals including a very nice veggie main course. The actors were fantastic. It was theatre level play and we were fully submerged into the past with their acting. It’s worth the money. After the dinner we went to Versailles night fountains show and enjoyed it even more because the actors at the restaurant set our royal mood for the rest of...
