I was skeptical of the reviews because the restaurant was so close to a big tourist area. But the items on the menu interested me. I’m so glad I came, because the waiters were so friendly, the food was delicious and the decor was abundant!
Right from the start, the waiters took the time to have a little chat (I came in around 30 minutes after opening). The staff felt genuine and human the whole evening, and were very helpful and understanding in case of trouble.
The food really was something else… I’ve never really liked eggplant much (especially not in large quantities), but the food I ordered came with half of a fullsized candied eggplant and I finished the whole thing with delight! The meat itself was just perfectly flavored, and the side dish was sooo good. I’d never tasted anything like it before, but it hit the spot right from the first bite! By the way, the desserts are a bit expensive, but they are very unique and taste amazing, so I’m glad I still tried! (The one I got was like some kind of traditional dish from a country/kitchen I don’t know of, that got transformed into the concept of a lava cake, but it was so much better than that! The texture… the flavor… so delightful…)
The restaurant itself had a really nice layout and decor. They made it feel cozy and not too big, but I noticed it was actually bigger than I expected when I walked a bit further towards the toilet. (They have nice and clean genderneutral toilets btw) Because of the abundance of decorations and the nice style of the interior, I never really felt bored despite coming alone. It also made for a great place to draw, as there were plenty of art references of different kinds (today I chose to study metallic objects)
The price category is a bit more on the high end (main dishes costing around €25-€30), but I think you do get good value for your money. So if you can spend it, this is definitely a place you won’t...
Read moreDuring a recent day trip to Versailles, we stumbled upon a delightful gem that turned what could have been a disappointing day into an unforgettable culinary experience. After discovering that the Palace of Versailles was closed on a Monday, we found ourselves with some time to spare and, as the rain began to fall, we wandered across the road to a cozy Mediterranean restaurant. Despite the place being packed, our host greeted us warmly and quickly found us a table, for which we were extremely grateful.
The menu offered a tempting 2-course lunch for 28 Euro or 3 courses for 38 Euro, and we eagerly dove into the offerings. Everything we ate was mouth-watering delicious, with the highlight of the meal undoubtedly being the Bullit de Peix-style cataplana—a rich seafood stew brimming with tender vegetables and perfectly cooked potatoes. Each bite was a celebration of the sea, full of deep, comforting flavours that made it clear why this dish was a standout.
We rounded off our meal with a delightful dessert and were graciously offered a shot glass of port by the owner—a kind gesture that capped off the meal beautifully. The service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was as welcoming as it was vibrant. If you're ever in Versailles, make sure to visit this fantastic restaurant. It’s a true testament to the power of great food and even greater hospitality.
NOTE: Our French is good but not great. The staff were so friendly and had an English menu for us. They made my mum feel so comfortable.
Tip: If you do happen to come here on a Monday realizing that Versailles is closed, you can still visit the Versailles gardens for free as that will be open. We headed there right after lunch.
We visited September...
Read moreI wanted so much to leave a good review. We visited this restaurant 2 years ago and the experience was perfect! Maybe there was a change in ownership.. but this time was the opposite. We were seated and then forgotten.. we waited and waited.. there are too many tables perhaps, to make a good service for the guests. A table arrived well after us and received menus, while we were left with nothing. Finally after an extremely long time our order was taken. The wine on the menu was excellent, also I think the guy from the kitchen who served us our food and wine, because our server left our glasses and plates empty on the table way too long, was great too. The food was literally one of the worst meals I've ever eaten in a restaurant.. For the price it was definitely not worth it. Appetizer was good, but there was a hair on top. Main course was just bad. I eat octopus often, in a lot of very good restaurants. I never had octopus like this. Definitely not fresh, possibly microwaved!😱 and for 29 euros! The ceviche was so extremly sour and overpowed by the extreme lemon juice soup it was in. I was so disappointed i lost my appetite for dessert. The restaurant has so much potential and used to be so good.. location is great, the ambience in the restaurant is very nice (except for too many tables) but the food quality really...
