Tycoons, one of the oldest pubs of Bangalore, yes not Bengaluru has now been relaunched. Tycoons to Desmond's and again Tycoons in Indiranagar. They still have the charm of Old Bangalore, with high ceilings, plants at right places have been a fantastic catalyst in increasing the awesomeness of the Ambiance. Come down here if you want to have a steak and scotch or beer and continental starters, yes as mentioned, Old Bangalore, what not. Other than their Signature Steaks, Pork Ribs, Chicken Kiev and Veg Au Gratin, they have an extensive menu which ranges much in continental cuisine, Indian and Pan Asian. The menu has again classic cocktails, fresh draught beer on tap and pretty old school with the food.
Starting off with a Tandoori Stuffed Mushrooms, an Indian preparation where Mushrooms were marinated well and stuffed with cream and spices in a green chilli base. Then came the vegetarian's pick, Hara Bhara Kebab, which is quite normal and nothing special. Potato wedges with skin, a fair substitute for fries which will be quite heavy and order it for a quick beer and a snack. It is mild in flavour, the potato is a fantastic vegetable in any form , it will get you out of a bad mood. The Jalapeno cheese poppers, which again is a good old dish is very well executed. Dragon spring rolls from the Pan Asian menu is really well done with less oil. One thing which was constant was the the addition of micro greens in all the dishes, the Chef has adopted these new techniques for the old school dishes which does impact the taste.
Where do I start praising the Veg Au Gratin. It wass browned with an overhead grill. Cheese, cream and vegetables were added beneath. The best part was the crunchy burnt cheese on top. Tycoons perfect their continental dishes where their Chefs are with them from 1989. Coming to the Pad Thai, it is pretty much Indianised and yes reminds you of Desi Chinese and exactly the authentic manner. Peanuts were found which signified the essence of the Pad Thai. Twirl and enjoy the goodness.
For desserts, do try the Apple Pie and...

The place has a life of its own as it manifests a vintage charm in the broad daylight and a rustic charm during night time. The place is always packed and you must make a reservation in prior. Spread across indoors and outdoors, tycoons is your way to go if you are looking to have not just good but a great time with your friends and family as you can sip on your martinis and soak in some rum and coke or just enjoy refreshing virgin mojitos. I started my meal with a sceptical dish on the menu - the raw mango paneer, but boy did it take my heart away. The super soft and well marinated flattened cubes of paneer coated evenly with a marinade that's slightly sweet/tangy from the raw mango made for a perfectly mellow starter. The chicken sheekh kebabs too were delightful. I moved on to the much hyped chicken a la Kiev for main course where the nicely flattened chicken was crumb fried to perfection and stuffed with hardened herbed butter and the moment you cut through you could see the butter ooze out magnificently. This is served alongside mashed potato and sauteed vegetables -a classic served on a silver plate. I had also heard a little about their incredible vegetarian au gratin, anything with cheese is bound to have enhanced flavours but this was a different level of indulgence with a gratinated top and well cooked vegetables in just the perfect bite sizes. To end the meal, I had a baked Alaska that was flambéd to perfection. You can also opt for a warm apple pie with vanilla ice cream. The vibes of the place makes the food come to life with the good old classics and some vintage aesthetics and makes it a must visit for every Bangalorean and it's quite an affordable...
