It was a wonderful experience and I myself being a Goan, I had no idea about the history and traditions of our forefathers. The herbs they used to heal with and nourish themselves with; their beliefs and social conduct and how simple yet powerful their lives were.
I enjoyed the sweets and delicacies during the walk and the sumptuous local snacks prepared by Felly's mother at the end. The drinks that were provided at the end of the walk were refreshing indeed, along with traditional Goan Folk songs while we ate. A shout out to Talsa for the brilliant introduction.
But the most important aspect of the whole entire event was the brilliant and passionate energy that Felly portrayed during the entire tour. He kept us entertained and amused during the entire tour without missing a heartbeat. Amazing! This man is proud of his heritage and his culture and it speaks volumes when you meet him in person.
Felly! From the bottom of my heart! Thank you...
Read moreThis is a fantastic initiative (among many others) by Felly. For me, it deepened my joy and wonder for this neighbourhood (and state), which is one so easy to fall in love with, that it now faces obliteration of all the things that make it so. The walk gave glimpses of what was, fed the imagination with stories, fostered a connection with what is, and inspired thought towards what can be. This is a very enriching way to spend an evening for anyone, but i especially recommend it for those that have a relationship with the land- living, working, visiting. When we start to see whats around us, with our hearts, we can explore the abundance it holds as opposed to exploit the resources it offers. This walk is a treat for the eyes and the heart. And talking about treats- the herbal tea there is one of my favorites in the world, little local munchies delighted us through the walk, the “bar” was super fun, and Fellys mom’s makes an...
Read moreI visited Assagao when I went on a yoga retreat both in 2017 and 2018 and both times I joined the Assagao heritage tour which was one of the highlights of both trips. Feli is such a spiritual, kind man who really really cares about the environment and wants to make a difference to the world, starting with the beautiful valley he lives in. He showed us so much on the tour, the wonderful countryside, naming the trees as we walked, pointed out historical sites, visited trainee Catholic priests, visited a Saddhu and also visited his beautiful home where he and his wife fed us and gave us some delicious tea to drink. The work he is doing in the community with the children is also superb. He left a lasting impression on me and I'd like to thank...
