Villa 259 Taproom & Cocktail Bar — Restaurant in Goa

Villa 259 I had the pleasure to discover and visit this restaurant in Goa, thanks to a reference by my friend. Situated in an old Portuguese architectural house, never gave an impression that it could be quite ‘roomy’ when you get in. There are many rooms inside, few tucked away in corners ensuring peace and privacy, if that is what you want and few others, as the one situated overseeing the bar with lovely English music that tunes your mood while you are in! I had the privilege of a Red Snapper, well made, that almost melted into my mouth. And here is the trump card, that went with that. A special beer ‘Crazy Jane’ brewed in house. Not available anywhere else in Goa. As I die-hard fan of King Fisher, when it comes to beer, I found the Crazy Jane refreshingly different with an excellent flavour to go with. I have some bragging rights to talk about the beer, thanks to the Master Brewer, explaining to me personally a thing or two about the beer😊 The flavours are created with different hops, the one I enjoyed doling out a citrus flavour. Owned, managed and run by well read people, right now it is a go to place with references through word of mouth. I could sense the seriousness in them in making up the place further, retaining the rustic atmosphere though! I could see one of the partners, personally taking interest and greeting some guests who walked in while I was there, pampering them with samples of wine. Found this lovely place while searching for a brewery in Goa. And I must say I found beer here which is called as hazy IPA in US, but here in India it goes with names similar to flavored pale ale beers. I loved their beers. They didn't have a huge variety of beers though, but whatever they had was the best.

I was nice to meet Anuj, the owner of this brewery and we had a good chat about beers. I really liked the friendliness of him and I invited him to sit with us and he too had beer with us.

Their menu on the portal is good. Well-categorized menu-items and drinks and easy to browse. We were not sure about the varities of food and I must say Priyanka was very helpful in choosing the food. She is knowledgeable about the food and how it is cooked and I really appreciate that. We had ordered Chicken Chimichurri and Chicken Pharma with veggies. I liked Chicken Chimichurri in particular.

Parking is behind the restaurant reached through narrow road and ample parking space is there. The walk from parking to the restaurant is pleasant and at the time of our visit, they had an exhibition of paintings and a boutique (sort of) inside.

Highly recommended place. And I would definitely visit once again for their beers next time...

Villa 259 as the name suggests is a beautiful and peaceful place located at Assagao. The ambience is impeccable - you can’t miss the artwork on the walls and the bar that gives you a feel of a cosy pub in London . They also have an outdoor seating which is perfect for evenings. Coming to the food which is great – Pizzas , Ravioli , Villa 259 sandwich – everything we tried was amazing . The staff is polite, courteous and helped us with the specialities what we were looking for. Soothing ambience, great service, amazing blend of flavors , well curated cocktails . Its difficult to get everything under one roof these days and Villa 259 has nailed it. In Goa where parking is always a problem, they have a dedicated open parking which is sufficient and convenient . Must visit their Karaoke nights on Wednesday, it’s a lot of fun. You can also book it for private parties & dinners as they have dedicated spaces for the same. Overall, a wonderful experience and I liked the fact that the experience is consistent every time you visit. Kudos to the team who has put in so much effort to get this place going.
