Review of Mystras Restaurant Ambiance

Atmosphere: Mystras boasts a charming and inviting ambiance, set within an old Portuguese house that exudes historical charm and character. The interior is tastefully decorated, blending traditional elements with modern touches, creating a cozy and relaxed environment. Décor: The décor is thoughtfully curated, featuring vintage furniture, elegant lighting, and tasteful art pieces. The overall aesthetic pays homage to the heritage of the building while providing a comfortable dining experience. Seating: Offers a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, with the latter being particularly delightful for enjoying the pleasant Goan weather on non-rainy days.

Food Options

Cuisine: The menu features a decent variety of dishes, catering to different tastes and preferences. It includes a mix of traditional Goan cuisine and other popular options. Quality: The food is generally well-prepared and flavorful, though it might not be exceptional. It’s a reliable choice for a satisfying meal. Variety: Offers a selection of appetizers, main courses, and desserts, with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available. The drinks menu is also varied, with an array of cocktails, mocktails, and beverages.

Location

Setting: Located in an old Portuguese house, which adds a unique and historical charm to the dining experience. The location is easily accessible and provides a quaint, picturesque setting. Ambiance: The historical setting enhances the dining experience, making it feel like a step back in time with a modern twist.

Downside

Roof Leakage: A significant downside is the roof leakage issue during the rainy season. This can detract from the dining experience, as water can seep through, causing discomfort for diners. It’s a notable flaw that the management should address to maintain the restaurant’s otherwise pleasant ambiance.

Pros and Cons Pros:

Ambiance: Excellent ambiance with a historical charm that enhances the dining experience. Setting: Unique location in an old Portuguese house, offering a picturesque and cozy environment. Decent Food: A varied menu with decent food options catering to different tastes.

Cons:

Roof Leakage: The roof leakage during rains is a significant drawback that can disrupt the dining experience.

Conclusion

Mystras Restaurant offers a delightful dining experience with its charming ambiance and decent food options. The historical setting in an old Portuguese house adds to its appeal, making it a unique spot to enjoy a meal. However, the issue of roof leakage during the rainy season is a notable drawback that needs addressing. Overall, it’s a recommended spot for those seeking a cozy and historically rich dining experience, especially during...

We went to this place on recommendation of a friend to try their paella. But were left disappointed that they didn’t have it that day. We instead tried some of their tapas, cocktails and main. For tapas, we ordered the chorizo in wine, which I expected to be just that…Spanish chorizo in red wine, but it was Goan chorizo and potatoes, not a bad dish but nothing Spanish about it sadly. The Patatas Bravas were the worst I’ve ever eaten! I’m not sure if the chef forgot to bake the potatoes but we felt it was slightly raw and cold. Instead of crisp fried potatoes with a nice Bravas sauce and aioli, we were given a potato and carrot layered dauphinois style chunk, which was definitely undercooked and tasteless. The Bravas sauce was just a cheesy red pasta sauce, not the good kind. If you’re going to call it Patatas Bravas, at least make sure it’s 50% or what is expected. After these disappointments, our drinks were quite good and enjoyable, but for the hibiscus Negroni that I ordered, except for a garnish of dried hibiscus, it tasted like the normal Negroni. The biggest disaster that the restaurant managed with our limited menu was when i specifically and many times told the server that I’m severely allergic to mushrooms and to please make sure there is none in my main (which was a very average Thai Basil rice), the kitchen sent it with a heap of mushrooms! I was thankfully able to see it and taste it after just one bite! The server did apologize several times & insisted that this was informed in the kitchen, but there is absolutely no excuse for endangering someone’s life. I had to take anti-histamines as soon as i left the restaurant. Not a good combination with drinks. Another thing that really riled us was when the tapas and mains came together…I mean, give a girl some time to finish whats on her tiny plate! The deserts were a very average tiramisu and cheesecake, nothing to talk about. After all this, I expected that at least they would not charge us for the mushroom rice, but they did! Overall terrible experience, with a bill Coming to a whopping 4.5K between the 2 of us for extremely average food. The place is beautiful no doubt! If you really want to go, then only go for the bar and ambience. The music was loud but then it was a Saturday. The management needs to do something about food and internal communication. The main reason I’m giving them a 1* is for their complete lack of ownership for a grave mistake done by their kitchen which could cost someone their life ( not being dramatic here, but I did have to spend an entire day with itchy...

Located in the charming village of Assagao, Mystras occupies a beautifully restored Portuguese residence, radiating an elegant ambiance that truly comes to life after sunset. The Italian Smooch mocktail was a delightful burst of flavor, signaling a promising culinary journey ahead. While the Mezze Board provided a satisfactory start, it was the Mystras Pizza that stole the show, boasting an innovative blend of Mexican-inspired toppings like guacamole and burrata, leaving a memorable impression.

Unfortunately, the staff seemed disengaged, lacking enthusiasm and failing to honor a discount offer, detracting from the overall experience. Nevertheless, the restaurant's premium pricing aligns with its opulent atmosphere and creative cuisine, making it a destination worth considering for those seeking a luxurious dining experience.

In essence, Mystras offers a mixed bag, with standout dishes and a lavish setting overshadowed by inconsistent service. For patrons willing to indulge in a distinctive culinary journey amidst luxurious surroundings, Mystras presents an appealing option, albeit with some caveats regarding service...

Mystras is another new age place in the bylanes of Assagao which transforms a traditional house into a chic restaurant. The decor is really good with loads of natural light. The highlight of this is the flying horse suspended right above the bar. The food here is better than the decor and atmosphere. All of their dishes were aesthetically plated and had a good portion size. Their menu is weird mix of European and Asian cuisines where you will find both gnocchi and gyoza. They also have an in house wood fired oven for pizzas in their open area We loved their Californian Sushi and Malaysian curry. We also ordered pasta and pad Thai noodles which were decent. Their deserts - creme brulee and tiramisu - were extremely well plated and insta friendly. The service was a little slow but nothing major to complain about. Overall it's a good place with a huge and diverse menu along with great atmosphere.
