Urban Primary Health Centre — Local services in Hyderabad

Today's visit to the Uban Primary Health Centre, at Lower Tank Bund, Hyderabad is a first time experience for mu family and myself qat a Government medical facility. Every time we needed any medical attention we always headed to a private doc or hospital. But having taken the 1st dose vaccine early March our time was running out for the 2nd dose and therein began our hunt for a vaccination centre. Having given up any hope of Vaccination being found at the private hospitals we headed to this UPHC at Lower Tank Bund yesterday, where a no stock board greeted us.

Checked my luck today and to my pleasant surprise the vaccine was available and there were about only 10 to 12 people waiting in the line at 9.40am. My experience thereafter shattered all my preconceived and misplaced ideas about Govt medical facilities. The people were in queue in an orderly manner the support staff were very polite, helpful and patiently answered every person's query, the centre was spic and span, tents were put up for people waiting for their turn and the biggest surprise of all a police officer and a constable came in by 10.10am and started monitoring the small crowd that had gathered by then, cautioning people to maintain distance etc. My septuagenarian parents, who took the vaccination were guided, supported and monitored inside the centre by the medical staff till the time they came out of the centre. All in all a fantastic job by the Healthcare professionals of all ranks and that too at a Government facility.

Hats off to them I know for every such good experience there could be 100s that are just the opposite but I felt it's time we gave credit where it is due.
