Sukanta Academy — Local services in Tripura

In order to achieve the objectives of promoting science , arts & culture theough direct involvement of children in science , arts & culture., the Government of Tripura decided to build Sukanta Academy -a mini science city type project. The Foundation stone of Sukanta Academy was laid by the then chief minister of Tripura late Nripen Chakraborty in 1986. Due to some unavoidable reasons the construction work of the project was postponed in the mid way. The remaiming construction work of the project was started in 1996. In February 1997, Sukanta Academy was opened for the public with some basic science oriented models -- Science gallery which exhibits models procured from NCSM ISRO gallery with models pro vided by ISRO *Railway gallery consists of models provided by Ministry of Railway *Forest gallery consists models provided by Forest Department . The equipments are in quite poor condition . Only a handful of science equipments are working properly. In many parts there is only dust and insects home . Most of the writings are in Bengali so I think tourists will surely fell difficult to match with this...
