Read moreOne of two shopping centres in Douglas which are a little over 100 metres apart. Douglas Court has two entrances, one from the roundabout beside McDonslds and the other from Rochestown Road. All of the centre is at ground floor level so it is wheelchair friendly and there is ample free parking all around the centre.
Dunnes Stores, Kilkenny Next and Peter Mark are represented here. The centre also has an AIB branch, Cummins Sports, Kiernan's Garden Centre and KFC. Douglas Court has a good selection of clothes shops, restaurants and coffee shops. The centre alo has two well known pharmacies - Sam McCauley and Boots.
A problem here and in other areas of Cork where public parking is provided is that parking spaces are so tight. This results in damage costing millions of euros being caused to cars every year which has to be bourne by the unsuspecting customers. As Douglas Court stands today, it's main anchor tenant is Dunnes Stores which brings the most activity to the centre. The large amount of free parking in the shopping centre is definitely an attractive feature for those going there.
Despite my bleak opening statement, Douglas Court still has some great features. Besides Dunnes Stores there are still stores there like GameStop, New Look, Boots, Cummin's Sports, Art & Hobby, Eason, Vision Express, Peter Mark, 3 Mobile, Sam McCauley Chemist and a few more smaller stores scattered through the centre. There is also a AIB bank branch in the centre.
