Basilica dei Santi Pietro e Paolo ad Acireale. La basilica si trova in Piazza del Duomo, di fianco alla cattedrale di Acireale. La sua facciata, in stile barocco siciliano, fu progettata dal pittore Pietro Paolo Vasta nel 1741. I lavori di ricostruzione successivi al terremoto del 1693 si protrassero fino al 1812 e videro la riorganizzazione dell'interno della chiesa su ispirazione neoclassica.

Uno splendido esempio di barocco siciliano nel centro di Acireale. La chiesa di affaccia sulla piazza centrale che è decorata con particolari decorazioni geometriche. Rispetto all'adiacente Duomo questa chiesa appare più semplice, quasi dimessa, ma possiede negli altari laterali delle tele di grande valore.

Esperienza pessima Abbiamo scelto questa Chiesa per il nostro matrimonio per la sua bellezza e per l'esposizione maestosa che ha in piazza, ma l'esperienza è stata terribile.

L'offerta purtroppo non è assolutamente libera, ma imposta e anche cara.
Nonostante l'ingente somma di denaro ci è stato richiesto di portare le OSTIE per il giorno del matrimonio, richiesta mai sentita prima in altri matrimoni e davvero poco umile considerato che si tratta di un luogo religioso. Inoltre, di nostro buon cuore abbiamo portato pure una gran spesa per i poveri, da consegnare durante il momento dell'offertorio a messa, ma chiederci anche le ostie e il vino è stato davvero un gesto poco dignitoso.
Il giorno del matrimonio, il sacrestano non ha neanche predisposto le sedie dei testimoni accanto al nostro inginocchiatoio, quindi non abbiamo avuto i testimoni accanto a noi nel nostro giorno più bello.

La Basilica Collegiata dei Santi Apostoli Pietro e Paolo si trova ad Acireale in Piazza del Duomo sulla quale si affaccia anche la Basilica Cattedrale.

La costruzione ebbe inizio nel XVII secolo e venne completata nel 1889.

Fu eretta a Collegiata nel 1924 e nel 1933 Papa Pio XI la elevò a Basilica Minore pontificia.
