Terrible, rude and dishonest workers/owners.
I have been to Assisi several times and this store is the worst. The shopkeepers are dishonest, pushy and shady. My wife made the mistake of purchasing a case of mixed wines from this merchant after spending the afternoon tasting wines.
The next day my wife had buyer’s remorse after thinking about her $900 case of wine and went down to the shop and kindly requested a refund as the wine had not been packaged or shipped out yet. The young man standing at the front door told my wife that they would not issue a refund immediately and that my wife would have to wait 60-90 days. They informed my wife that her only option was to call her credit card company to dispute the charges. That afternoon my wife called Citibank and explained the situation. Citi told my wife that the merchant has the ability to cancel transactions and issue refunds just like every other merchant in the world.
The next day I went back down to the store with my wife. She explained to the same young man that she had spoken with the credit card company and they requested that he void or cancel the transaction and issue a refund. He got frustrated and starting telling my wife that it was her fault and that she bought the wine so it’s not his problem to issue the refund. This guy is a moron.
At this point my wife called Citi while we were still in the store; the young man started yelling at my wife so loudly that the Citi card representative told my wife that he was recording her call for her protection because he could hear the man carrying on, being rude and insulting my wife. What kind of man insults a woman? Let alone a customer? Not very smart my friend.
After hearing the insults I took a very deep breath and respectfully asked the young man to refund her card b/c she changed her mind. I even went so far as to apologize for the inconvenience.
His response was "You have to wait 60-90 days...." SO YOU CAN TAKE MY WIFE'S MONEY IMMEDIATELY BUT WON'T ISSUE A REFUND UNTIL SHE WAITS 60 - 90 DAYS. NO THANKS THAT'S NOT HOW IT WORKS.
I told the man at the front door that since he would not issue a refund or help us out that I would write up my experiences in the form of reviews on social media and he told me "I don’t care, write whatever you want..." OK stupid here you go... Now the world knows you are dishonest and rude to your customers.
His last comment to me was that he would come and find me in my home town. I am guessing that was a threat...lol I am right here waiting tough guy.
Don't patronize this store. They should be ashamed...
Read moreIt might sound very dramatic, however I might’ve actually had one of the best nights of my life at this spot.
I was on a trip with my friends, and around 6pm I was walking on the streets of Assisi with one of my best friends. We saw this spot from outside, and I asked him if he’d like to have a little break and perhaps try a glass of italian wine. We went inside, and at first we were only going to have one glass. Long story short, we ended up ordering a whole bottle for the two of us, and later on we called 6 more friends to join us. We ordered bottles and bottles of amazing wine and we were just having so much fun. Of course I can’t forget to mention the snacks, we tried amazing prosciutto, cheese, and olive oil with truffle. We had a total of 3 cheese boards and 5 wine bottles. We laughed so much, and we were there for over 4 hours. Amazing service from Maria, the lady that served us that night and her father Corrado who is a very unique and fun person. What was supposed to be just a quick recess, ended up being one of the best dinners I’ve ever had.
Real kudos to this place. I will always have a great memory from here.
PD. They were so kind that when we were about to leave, they even agreed to take a picture with us and also gift us a bottle of champagne.
I’d go back to Assisi just to have another class...
Read moreThis review is long overdue. In November 2016, we went on a pilgrimage to Assisi. After one of our visits to the Basilica of St. Francis, we stopped by Tesori dell'Umbria to ask about an Italian wine we enjoyed at a local restaurant. Although they did not have that particular wine, Francesco claimed that they had a much better wine. To which I replied, "Of course, you do!" And they did. We decided to bring back to the shop as many of our pilgrimage group as we could (20 total) for another wine tasting. At that time, Luca offered to come to our home in Ohio during their trip to the United States. In March 2017, sixty people gathered for a taste of Umbria and met Luca and Francesco. It was so successful that Luca and Maria set up another wine tasting for February 2018. (P.S. We miss you Luca, Maria, and Francesco! Love your American...
