I came across this nice small cosy family restaurant on Google Maps or Tripadvisor as far as I can remember and had a lot of positive reviews, so I had to find out for myself.
It is located in Montecatini Alto which is on a mountain near Montecatini Terme where I was staying. We took our rental car and had to drive for like ten to fifteen minutes on normal roads which then changed to narrow roads and sharp corners. You shouldnt be scared of high altitudes or narrow streets where cars also come from the opposite direction. But the drive up there was quite nice and offers a little bit of a new experience.
When we arrived at the restaurant we had to park at the garage you see at first and then walk to the restaurant for like 30 to 50 meters or so.
But when we arrived the stunning view was the first thing we saw and it was beautiful. The people working there were very friendly and we got a nice table. The restaurant is small and cosy and does not look like a commercial restaurant but offers very nice experience.
We did not get a menu as you normally would expect, but you just get a number of starters put on your table which were all fresh and home made and just delicious!
After that we had a number of larger courses like pasta and pork meat which were also very delicious. As dessert we had Tiramisu and coffee which we enjoyed a lot.
If i think of real traditional Italian food, I will always think about this restaurant!
One tip i should give you, is that you book a couple days in advance. It is a very...
Read moreMy husband and I visited Nonna Idelfa due to the incredible reviews online, it's located in a beautiful location in Montecatini Alto with spectacular views. It is off the beaten tract so give yourself plenty of time to find it. I found two addresses online it is NOT the address on the Facebook page but the one on google. The waiter & waitresses were great. I'm vegetarian and they were very accommodating. We paid €30pp for 5 courses including wine and water. We were under the impression that it was €25 pp but the owner charged us €30pp at the end of our evening. We didnt have anything extra and only my husband had the meat dishes. Vegetarian dishes were delicious but from simple ingredients. We didnt question it as we thought everything is increasing in price at the moment but when we got home we remembered the waiter had told us when we arrived it was €25 pp!! if it wasn't for this I would have given 5 stars. All in all we had a lovely evening just disappointed we were taken advantage of as...
Read moreAn agroturismo restaurant overlooking the town. The menu on the evening we went was very much, "this is what we are serving tonight". So its pot luck if you get food you love as there isnt much choice That being said, the location, staff and most importantly the food is all top quality. 6 courses for 25 euros with attentive service and great views. You can walk here from the main town just do not follow google maps walking directions. It takes you on the main road. There is a much easier route which you can figure out using the map and takes only 10-15 minutes This place is...
