Funi1898 — Restaurant in Montecatini Terme

This place is probably the best cocktail bar in Montecatini! :) I stayed one week in Montecatini Therme and I visited Funi1989 over 4 times to enjoy the evening with their drinks and atmosphere.

The staff is very exceptional, nothing that I have ever encountered before anywhere. One example: the bar is located next to the funicolare of Montecatini Therme to go to Montecatini Alto. My family and I bought tickets to go to Montecatini Alto and we decided to have a drink at the bar to spend the time waiting to take the next tram (18.00), we arrived there +- 17.40. The waiter heard that we would to take the 18.00 tram but we enjoyed the drinks, that we were late. Suddenly the waiter comes and says that the tram is waiting for us. She just stopped the tram for us? That's just a act of kindness I won't forget.

The cocktails are also very good, they know what they are doing and it's not expensive at all! If you go, don't forget that there are 2 terraces! The one in the back is just fabulous!

Instantly loved this place. My partner and I visited Montecatini from Indiana USA and found this cozy little speakeasy near our hotel. We ended up going there all three nights of our visit. The owner Francesca has created a perfect speakeasy vibe. She was there every night, as was the bartender Tiziano. They both did a great job making everyone feel welcome. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks (we recommend the Naked & Famous and Paloma cocktails). On our last night, there was live music. We told Tiziano we planned to be there and he very nicely reserved our “usual” spots at the bar (after our being there only two previous nights). The musician was talented and entertaining. Perfect place for evening in Montecatini Terme. Pub Funi is located just by the cable car ("Funicolare") to Montecatini Alto, about 1 km from the town centre. The food is local and fine, wines perfect. We took Chianti and Pinot Grigio (red and white wines), both excellent. The stuff is nice and friendly, prices more than reasonable and there is no "couver" charges. Toillets are very clean and spacious what is nice exception compared with average Italian restaurant.
