TLDR: clean, excellent value for money, friendly staff, poor wifi.
My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 2 weeks. We were given a room at the end of the corridor which we were happy with. Good size, nice bathroom, hallway, closet, long dresser, drawers. The bathroom had a comfortable shower, wc, bidet and hairdryer, nice window with shutters. Bedside there were bedside cabinets, power sockets. It's worth bringing a converter or distributor, or buying locally, as there is only one socket for each of the bedside cabinets, the smaller 10 amp variety. The schuko plug does not go in. There's a TV with Italian channels, and a small fridge that can cool quite a lot of things when neatly packed away. The room is cooled by fancoil, if you need a cold beer quickly, just put it on and it's ready to drink after 15 minutes :). The fancoil and the fridge are a bit noisy, but we didn't mind, even though we are sensitive to that. The cleanliness was first class, the maids were kind and attentive. We did not have to be told once about anything. The wifi in the rooms (at least in ours) was pretty poor. Even when it was connected it was slow, or when it was peak time it disappeared for minutes. I think this could be improved. They were also nice at reception, although they didn't have much to do with us as we didn't have any problems. Breakfast was the usual continental buffet breakfast. It's not a big thing but it does the job, you won't go hungry. I ate for two weeks, with a little attention you can vary it. The waitress at breakfast is really cute and smiling, a great way to start the day. The coffee is quite drinkable for Italy. The sweetener tablet is behind the coffee machine! The location of the hotel is quite good. No noise, the windows are very well insulated, although in the evenings a couple of bikers do pull the throttle, but you don't hear anything else. The Funicolare is very close, well worth the go up to Montecatini Alto. If you want to get to crowded area, a walk through the park will take you to the centre of town in 10 minutes. On the way there is the old spa building, definitely worth a visit. There's a nice big car park opposite the hotel, very convenient if you're coming by car. There was always a space. The hotel pool is usable, finally a place with deep water, you can swim a few laps normally. Thank you Hotel! The sun beds are comfortable and when we were there, there were always free. There is a pool buffet, good for a beer (although 8 EUR) but don't expect great shows. All in all we were maximally satisfied with the hotel, we will smoothly go there again if we go that way. I think the value for money is among the best in the area. Suggestions to the hotel: Improve the wifi Could have more hangers. It is, but could easily fit more. Have soap at the sink for hand washing, because it's more environment friendly than opening the individually wrapped...
Read moreThis hotel was an emergency booking for a week as the hotel we we had booked just happened to have drained the swimming pool and would not be fixed for at least three days. So quick search online and Grand Panoramic seemed OK, we even went for a superior room. Oh my what a mistake. We lasted one night before we gave up. Where to start. The room, bathroom and general hotel areas are still in the 1980's. Just check our our superior room un the pictures and the bathroom. The bar although 24 hour only has house wine, you can't buy a bottle, drinks are very limited as they seem to be pushing 8 euro cocktails. We were told the bar was cash only and you can't put drinks or bar food/lunch on the room. We went to order a 10 euro pasta for lunch only to be told its 2 euros person cover charge to eat anywhere at the hotel apart from your own room. The interior furniture is a mish-mash of furniture styles, all from at least 20 years ago. Breakfast buffet has only warm scrambled egg, with otherwise a very basic continental breakfast but with dry bread. The "spa" area is sqeezed onto the side of the ground floor of the hotel and consists of a small pool, a hot tub and a sauna, charged at 25 euros a day. Check out the pictures, I would not risk my health using that. The pool looks grubby and unfinished and the wooden bridge does nothing to help. The evening meal charge at 30 euro per person for a limited set menu selection, we did not entertain given what we saw of breakfast. This hotel is seriously under-invested in and the only thing not 1980's about the hotel is the WiFi. If you are all out of luck and desperate as we were booking this hotel, you need to make some allowances, but we just could not put up for more than a night at was us supposed to be a four star hotel. So asking to cancel our reservation the hotel owner met with us and claimed, you can put drinks on your room from the bar. Our rooms bathroom was only recently upgraded, the spa charge was for the week not per day and she has spent over a million on the propertyjust in the kadt year.. All very interesting and totally unbelievable given our pictures and what the staff repeatedly told us. On reflection, this has to be the worst hotel we have stayed at with an owner clearly in total denial about the state of her establishment. We checked out the next day, crossed the street to the lovely hotel behind with a modern fresh feel you expect and saved 100 euros in the process even after paying for an extra night as...
Read moreWe have just returned after a week stay here and we had a great holiday. |The hotel is spacious and the rooms are great, massive glass windows on either side with panoramic views which give a really spacious and airy feel. In the bathrooms you get a walk in wet room style shower with a choice of hand held or fixed drench style head, both of which give good water pressure.|Breakfast is good with a nice selection of meat, bread and cheese, also cereals, yoghurts and fruit, although dining area does need to be updated.|The pool area is superb with lots of lemon trees and a great pool. Also equipped with sun loungers and outdoor beds. |The staff on reception are very pleasant, and anything available on request. Luigi who works in the bar is a real character and nothing is to much trouble.|The only thing we would say is the hotel is in need of updating particularly downstairs however for the asking price for the whole week we could not complain at all, other hotels with more modern insides were double what we paid so we were not at all in any position to be negative about it, however for someone looking for something more modern inside it probably won’t be the right hotel for you. On the flip side if you want great value and comfort and most boxes ticked this is a...
