We have purchased thousands of euros worth of furniture from IKEA Padova, including a custom kitchen and entire bedroom sets, for our 250 sqm flat in Venice. We used to love the store and even became friends with the staff, feeling like IKEA was a quasi-brand ambassador for Sweden. However, our recent experiences with delivery have been disappointing.
The delivery process is frustratingly inconsistent. Some items are available in-store only, others can be shipped to a depot but not to our home, or vice versa. In Venice, this means hiring a boat and a truck to pick up items that may or may not have arrived as expected. The tracking system is unreliable, making it difficult to know the status of our orders.
For example, I ordered a complete bedroom set including beds, desks, lights, and a wardrobe. However, some drawers were out of stock, and there was only one wardrobe door available. The available items had to be collected in various ways—some in-store, some shipped home part by part, some by SDA, and some by courier. This resulted in a significant assembly bill due to the disjointed deliveries. Two weeks later, one missing door arrived damaged, and another part of the shipment was finally ready at a different location.
Despite our efforts, our drawers are still only available in Rimini, with no option for delivery to Venice. This has left us with an incomplete wardrobe and a broken mirrored door. Trying to contact customer service is equally frustrating, often resulting in long waits with an automated system and unresponsive phone numbers.
We are disappointed because our experiences with IKEA used to be so positive. We hope the delivery and customer service processes improve to match the quality of...
Read moreThe Ikea store itself is wonderful. Great selection, organized, and easy to navigate. Unfortunately, I deducted 3 stars because of the terrible delivery and disposal/pick-up service. Both services will give a 0900-1300 time but will arrive way later than the times given. Our delivery didn't arrive until closer to 1700! Ikea also messed up our disposal/pick-up service by not scheduling the service we paid for. We had to call customer service to fix the mistake. They realized we already paid and had to schedule the disposal/pick-up service. So, the original service date got moved to a week later. Today is the date we had rescheduled for the pick-up service. The times given to us by customer service was 0900-1300. It is currently 1650 and we still have not received a call or had our furniture picked up for disposal. The Ikea delivery service and disposal/pick-up service is absolutely atrocious and the worst service I have ever experienced with any company. This is unacceptable and hope that...
Read moreWhat can you say about IKEA? IKEA is IKEA, a wide selection of home furnishings and accessories. Often times it is hard to find help, so you have to wander around until you find someone. They do have their stations though,. The prices are reasonable, and many items are modular so you can assemble them as you wish. They have a great cafeteria, and a snack bar where you can get a variety of items. If you have an IKEA card you get various discounts as with any "club" card. They will deliver and install items for a price, but sometimes that is better than having to do it yourself, like closets with sliding doors. The best times to go are weekdays in the morning or early afternoon, weekends are jam packed, and parking is at a premium. I believe they also have a nursery where you can leave your children...
