Quite an expensive beach where you can buy a sunbed and umbrella. We spent two days at the beach, paying at least 50 euros per day for sunbeds and umbrellas. We also bought water and food from the restaurant, but the squid wasn't particularly good. The food is not recommended. We had planned to do yoga on the beach, but since it couldn't be done on the sand and needed a harder surface, we decided to do yoga on the grassy area of the beach. After that, someone who seemed to be a beach supervisor came and started verbally attacking us harshly. He tried to kick us off the beach, even though we had paid for the sunbeds and umbrella. We told him we had a receipt and offered to show it. Then, another staff member said he recognized us and that we were customers at the beach. It was a very unpleasant experience because we couldn't practice yoga while others were free to do whatever they wanted. And we paid a high price for the beach. The supervisor had even seen us paying for entry. The water was dirty and very cold, not comparable to the crystal-clear sea in Croatia. I do not recommend this beach. Check out Hakuna Matata beach, which is free, and everyone is friendly. It's a bit further down the...
Read moreA Disgraceful Experience — An Embarrassment to Italian Tourism
This was one of the most upsetting experiences we’ve had in Italy — one that reflects poorly on both the location and the values it claims to represent. Upon arriving at the beach, we were told by the lifeguard that we needed to pay for our chairs and umbrella. My elderly grandmother briefly TOUCHED her chair before we walked over to make the payment. As we approached him to pay, the lifeguard suddenly began yelling at her — aggressively and without provocation. He shouted insults, cursed at her, and berated her appearance due to her modest clothing.
I tried to explain that we were coming to pay exactly as he instructed, but he kept yelling and escalating the situation. At the entrance of this beach are Christian symbols — crosses meant to represent values like respect, compassion, and dignity. Yet this is how they treat an elderly woman? It was shameful, unacceptable, and completely out of line with the hospitality and values Italy is known for. This experience left us shocked and...
Read moreLovely beach in the centre of Ostia. Many activities available at this beach including volleyball, 5-a-side football, table tennis, table football, kayaking and paddle boarding (no pedalo, because of the rock barrier I guess). Water is shallow for the first 50 metres from the sand, which allows kids to enjoy swimming without it being too deep. If you walk/swim to the rocks (about 50 metres) you can find several types of small fish and some crabs amongst the rocks. Price for 3 sun beds and 1 parasol in August 2023 was 36-40 Euro. Food at the restaurant wasn't too bad, but prices are quite high. For lunch we preferred to walk to the nearest Italian takeaway restaurant to buy lunch for half the price and then have lunch relaxing on our sun beds. As mentioned in other reviews, although the beach parasols all looked available first thing in the morning, many Italians reserve their parasol in advance, so the parasols available on the day might not be located on a part of the beach that you would...
