First: I will start with the positive: many thanks to Francesco at the reception! He really made my stay way less bad than it would’ve otherwise been. He deserves a raise! Very kind man, warm smile and so helpful.
The hotel: building is very old and in desperate need of renovation (including the elevator, doors, some of the furniture…) and the doors are tiny. While the breakfast is included and is relatively good, the staff were rude and made me feel like I was stealing the cappuccino I asked for!
There’s only ONE staffer throughout the entire, very busy breakfast, which might explain—but not excuse— their crass.
One of the two ladies was always frowning and looked so angry like she was ready to fight. She pretended not to understand English when I spoke to her, but then one time I wanted to have tea in my room while I worked: now in my room there’s an electric kettle, but no cups, no tea, no utensils, nothing. I took a teabag from the breakfast area. I asked Francesco for a mug or a cup, he said I could take one from the breakfast area. The aforementioned breakfast lady saw me and yelled so loud in clear English: “WHAT? NO! NOT UP TO THE ROOM! NO!” In the very busy breakfast area. I was so mortified, and so was Francesco, who unlocked a very old cupboard with a bunch of random glasses (one of each type, like an antique museum…) That same afternoon he offered me an espresso when he saw me working on my computer, which came in at the perfect time!
I requested a seaview room via Booking.com and I was shown that I got what I asked for, but a day after booking, I looked through my booking and that (very important) detail wasn’t clear. I messaged the hotel and asked them to confirm that I have a seaview room, they didn’t answer my message. I asked again, until they finally answered and said that the hotel was fully booked and they couldn’t accommodate my request, which wasn’t my fault and was disappointing.
Daily cleaning is good, but the room needed deep cleaning. Check out the pictures for some examples on the horrors of dirt, hiding in plain sight.
There’s one elevator and it’s so so so old and so tiny, I was worried every time I took it.
Otherwise, don’t waste your money. Go to an Airbnb or another hotel even if you pay more. This hotel doesn’t deserve...
Read moreFirst of all: the building is an old 80’s cement building that crumbles away and looks uncared for. The rooms are very outdated, the furniture is old. The chair in the room is hard and uncomfortable, more like a garden chair. There is a kettle but no cups or glasses, no coffee/tea. There is no fridge. The air con is a centralised old system: it can only be switched on or off and then creates a blast. The temperature cannot be adapted. |The bathroom is rather small and the shower shows grime in all corners. There is one of those old fashioned wall mounted hairdryers that is not very effective.|There is a ventilation grit the door which allows the noise from the corridor come straight into the room. As doors can only be closed with a bang there is constant noise that cannot be blocked out by ear plugs.|The breakfast is terrible and only consists of unhealthy items. The room is very uncomfortable (low couch like seating, table cloths from the 70’s). The lady working there is permanently grumpy and mainly chatting away with other staff.|Except for the location right at the Lungomare and the friendly receptionists I would discourage people from staying here. Last year I stayed at Hotel Sirenetta next door which is much better, especially...
Read moreIt is hard to rate this hotel because some things were very good and others not so good. First the good things, the front reception desk staff was superb, friendly and helpful. Special praise to the woman who is there in morning and afternoon. The view was beautiful and we had a balcony ro enjoy the water and had a 5 minute walk to get to the beach. Had housekeeping service every day and they did a top notch job.||The not so good things, the breakfast offering was subpar, seemed like commercial pastry, an average fruit salad, toast, and espresso and coffee to your liking. The breakfast area seemed cramped. The room was small like many older European hotels, the bed seemed too hard, and the shower staff was too small, kept accidentally shutting off the water. Overweight people would have a lot of trouble fitting into it. The balcony was nice to see the view, but had cracks in it.||Some other items, had nice outdoor sitting area in front and couple tables to have breakfast but the smokers ruined it. Also, had an outdoor garden around back.||Photos show a beach with yellow umbrellas. It appeared to be a private beach not available to hotel guests. A few feet further down was an entrance to a beach club open to the public...
