I don't normally take the time to review a hotel, unless there is something that I really don't like about it. That's not the case with this review. This may not be the best hotel I have ever stayed in but it is certainly the best hotel in Italy I have stayed in and is reasonably priced. If there is a negative about the Fly Deco Hotel, the rooms aren't terribly large. In old Europe, this is quite common. The Fly Deco however has a very large bathroom with a completely modern shower. The water pressure was something you dream about and I never ran out of hot water. It was ultra clean and modern. I was traveling solo so the size of the room wasn't important at all. I don't believe my wife would have had a problem with the room size either as it was just ridiculously clean and modern. There was only one large drawer for clothes but ample hanging space. There was also a refrigerator that was small but cold. I never met a staff member that wasn't anything but old world professional. They knew Ostia and could point you in the direction of anything you might need, especially restaurants. The breakfast buffet at the hotel was not minimal at all. They had a lot of items and yes, there were many many vegetarian items. I really don't know how normal people would have a problem with this hotel. I do understand that often customers arrive after a long, overnight flight and may be a bit testy when they arrive. So often in life you get back what you give out. If you walk into the Fly Deco Hotel with a smile on your face, you're going to have a...
Read moreWe stayed there for a week. The standard is better than in other hotels in this area but still very poor. The parking cost 12€ per day and you have to pay the tax not included in the price which is 6€ per day for ONE person! I’d say this hotel is modern and well furnished but very dirty, windows are disgusting (clean them please). Breakfast is very limited and cold, there is a chance you won’t be able to eat anything you want because you didn’t fit in the right time gap and nothing is available… And I’m not talking about some specials, I mean ham for example (there is no yellow cheese in this hotel). Today (2.07.2022) they served MOLDY PANCAKES which is terrible (they apologised after and get me fresh ones but still). Rooms are too small, they feel claustrophobic, you won’t get a space for your private things. Beach next to the hotel cost a lot and you don’t have any sun beds included in the price of a hotel (we paid 40€ a day for 3 people). Also the hotel staff is not really nice, especially men (except for one older guy). I would not recommend staying there or do it only if you’re gonna...
Read moreThe hotel has an ok location in Ostia. However, the rooms are generally small and tired. I didn’t like the room I had been assigned for 4 nights and the hotel kindly offered me a complimentary upgrade for 2 of my 4 nights. Meaning I had to move back to the tiny dark room I didn’t like at the end of the stay, which was fine. However, the receptionist then charged me 120 Euro for the “free” upgrade when I checked out. When trying to address the matter with him he started yelling at the top of his lungs - very unprofessional. And, I had no choice but to just leave and file the complaint with the credit card company. Days after my stay the hotel then posted yet another (inexplicable) charge to my credit card, and I had to file yet another complaint.
Just not worth the hassle for a short stay by the beach if you ask me, and I would recommend staying somewhere else if you ever visit Ostia. If you do stay at Fly Deco my advice would be to pay cash so you don’t have to deal with any ‘surprise’...
