Gusto GLAM — Restaurant in Rome

Awful service. Ordered sea set and wine, which included 3 courses. Asked the waiter if sea set would be enough for two people and he answered "yes". Then we were waiting about 1hour for the second course, nobody had came to us and when finally came, asked "do you want something else or may be bill?" I was shocked and asked "where are others ordered courses?" At first the waiter didn't understand and then started to say "oh sorry sorry" and after about twenty minutes brought the second course. After that we waited around 30 minutes, I lost my patience and come to the waiter and asked about third course. He surprised another time, called another waiter, because he didn't understand what do I want from him. Another waiter apologized and after about 20 minutes finally this one who took our order brought 3 shrimps only with words "ok,ok" without any apologizes for such a long waiting and misunderstanding. But I can't imagine what could be difficult in this order, I pointed it with my finger in every beginning and even if he is bad in English it's not so much big deal to understand it. After that we requested bill and it included service. When I said that service was VERY BAD and I won't pay for it he made surprised face and asked WHY??!! Seriously?!! After 2 hours of waiting, begging for every course from the set, he finally asked why?? Another waiter said that it was their fault and apologized, while that unapprehensive waiter who took our order tried to prove on Italian which I don't understand, that everything was OK. Money for service were minused from receipt. But the mood was spoiled, time lost and besides that we were hungry after that set, because waiter lied that it was ok for two, courses were VERY SMALL. Don't go to this place if you want save your nerves!!! Отвратительный сервис. Заказали Sea set, состоящий из трёх блюд. При заказе спросили хватит ли этого сета на двоих человек, на что официант ответил: "да-да". Первое блюдо принесли быстро, потом мы долго сидели и ничего не происходило. Через некоторое время к нам подошёл уже другой официант и спросили "не хотим ли мы чего-то ещё или может быть принести счёт?". Когда я спросила, где остальные блюда, сначала было полное непонимание, потом "сорри,сорри" и через время принесли второе. А потом снова полный игнор. Прошло минут 20-30...Не выдержала встала и подошла сама к официанту, спросила: "а где третье блюдо?" Снова полное непонимание в глазах (видимо очень плохо с английским), подзывает другого официанта, тот всё понимает, извиняется и ещё минут через 15 нам приносят эти три несчастные креветки. Принесли счёт с включенным в него сервисом, не выдержала и пошла ругаться. Когда подошла и сказала, что сервис was very bad и я не собираюсь за него платить, в ответ округленные глаза и удивлённый вопрос WHY?? Действительно why.. потеряли около двух часов, пришлось бегать за официантом и выпрашивать свой заказ. В итоге деньги за сервис вычли, но впечатление от места осталось просто ужасным, испортили настроение, потеряли время, так и не наелись: порции были крошечными и утверждение про то, что её хватит на двоих человек было наглым враньём.Обходите это...

With the premise that I grew up in this neighbourhood, a new eatery is in town. Ingredients are excellent - hopefully the place will improve even more.

My boyfriend and I came here with a 50% discount with the TheFork, with 2 pasta, 1 main, 1 side dish, bottle of water and after discount we paid 57€ (114€ would have been steep as I rather had 114 for smaller more gourmet dish than for the quantity). Having said this and although it might seem expensive (the bill would have been double) the foods' portion were really way too much - but I'm getting ahead of myself.

Location: right on the main square of Ostia where all the eateries are, the place is very quite during the day, especially at lunch.

Ambiance: casual decor, mostly black and white placing with the tv on on MTV. Some might find it annoying but it's definitely a very casual place.

Food: the portions are really huge. Having said this we both ordered the specials of the day which meant that we didn't have any oversight of the prices. My linguine con vongole e bottarga felt it had double the amount of pasta that you usually get, the bottarga very generous although the clams were not that great. Some notes of over acidity which, when you make at home isn't there. (Pasta con le vongole is my favorite go to dish) The linguine with the catch of the day with the cherry tomatoes that my partner had was absolutely amazing. The fish was incredibly fresh, and it's very unusual to use an entire fish to make one single sauce. It was priced at 25€ which is on the high side (usually it's the price for sauces with lobsters) but it was well worth it - again an easy dish that could be for two people. With the premise that I kept on asking the staff to select a SMALL fish - just for taste it came out to be a 1kg of sole (sogliola/branzino) to much of my dismay, which one then does get the suspicious whether it was done on purpose (price is by weight). Yet: ingredients are fresh, the flavours are on the right spots.

Service: very attentive and gracious. Wifi provided, you can also charge your phone.

My advise is to come here when you're hungry or please confirm with the staff should you choose to go for the fresh catch of the day. It was definitely a surprise, one that we enjoyed, and the price/quality is there, the bill without discount would have been 114€ which I could argue that the food that was served could have very easily served 4 people (bringing the price to less than 30€). Would have enjoyed more if I knew ahead of time and ordered less but that's a...

After noticing the country of origin on my credit card the staff started to use curse words and calling me and my companion names in our native language as well as in Italian. Up until the point of paying it was all good, but turns out not all people are welcomed and respected in this restaurant and I’m very sorry to say that, since the problem appeared only after I paid WITH a tip, which now I regret doing. It’s so unprofessional for the owner to insinuate that I have made a mistake and have not visited this place - I have pictures and the receipt from our visit. Moreover, I think it’s quite telling that the owner wants to erase my comment, again very unprofessional. As I mentioned before and what the owner seems to ignore is that this problem appeared AFTER I paid successfully, so no - it was not an internet problem.
