First up i have been to this place twice, in a time period of 4 days. My mom, sister and me. The first time the food was great and the service was good, the food even arrived in 15 minutes max. Though it cost a bit too much, we enjoyed and were already planing to go there another time. The second time. First of all we had high expectations and we where quite hungry and ready to get some good food in a short waiting time. This time we felt really disrespected though. We got placed inside because there were no space left outside which we understood thus this beeing a really busy place. We ordered food just like the last time. We sat more or less in the middle of the resturant with little to no one near us. A few minutes after we had ordered we got our drinks. Then maybe 10 minutes after our order, some people started to come. We had around 6 or 7 tables around us and probably 20 people in total. Then we waited a few more minutes. I started getting more and more hungry, and soon to no time all the people around us started to get their food which in a way started to make us wonder why we didn't get ours. Then fast forward maybe 15 minutes we were feeling a bit disrespected for trying to wave at the waitress. In total we probably waved and try to get their attention for 10 minutes straight. Then someone on the table next to us waved at the waitress and pointed at us while he said something in italian. 5 minutes forward one of our dishes arrived. Then the original waitress came to our table and we told her about not getting our food. She imidiatly ran into the kitchen and talked to someone. Not short after we got our food which we ate up quite quick beeing our hunger and long wait. When we again tried multiple of times to get the waitress to give us the bill we decided to go to the so called manager. She looked twards our table and said ok here is the bill. We looked at it and we were expecting atleast a small cut from the price. Then we slow and steadly tried to tell the manager why we expeted it. Then she started takling italian and looking disapointed. One of the waiters was a tall nice man. He understood the happening and tried his best to explain this to the manager and other waitress who hadn't responded to us earlier. The manager waved at us multiple times and said this is your bill. I'm not saying this was anybody's fault, but if this would have been a resturant with a manager with some unscrambled brain inside her head. They would atleast say sorry. Again my mom said i feel quite disrespected and i'm sorry but we are going to write a bad rewiew. Then the manager started yelling in italian again and my mom just gave the manager the money she had asked for. Again if this manager would have some sort of social communication and commonsense. She would have said sorry and have a good evening. Instead she screamed at italian to my mom saying all kinds of negative words, i know a little bit of italian. We decided to just go and say bye to the one waiter who had actually respected us and been a nice guy, and a service guy in this case. I talked for half a minute with the guy and told him that i was sorry for making this a big deal and he said "no i should be the one to say that. But honestly if a resturat with good ratings and so called great service really wanna live up to those badges theh should atleast have a manager who can say sorry or explain the mistake. Without screaming and beeing straight up rude to the customers. I would like to say that you should go here. The food was good and for the most part their service was good but do not count on it for one second. And if you ever go there please just throw some water on the manager and give the tall nice man with black hair a good hug. Therefor i rate it 5 stars to the nice guy and good food, and if it would be possible -5 for the unreliable service and rude...
Read moreThis was a really cool find on the coast of Ostia. We decided to visit for lunch after our morning walk through the ruins of the ancient port. It was a great decision. If anything, for the atmosphere. I really love the interior dining area with all the hanging plants. It was quite lovely.
We were greeted as we walked through the terrace to the entryway. I think it had just opened for lunch because there were only a few people seated. We had our pick of tables. The seating arrangement was comfortable. The service was good. It was a little detached, and that's okay. I like to have some interaction with the server, but that's not always possible when you're a tourist in a new place.
We chose this restaurant more for the varied menu. Ostia is full of seafood, and my husband is more of a land lover. He ordered the Diavola from the Pinse & Roman Pizza side of the menu. I selected the Paccheri from the Pasta first course side. We shared an appetizer of Fritto Misto while waiting for the meal. We especially loved the fried ascolane olives & supplì (filled with rice, tomato sauce, and mozzarella). These were very tasty.
The Paccheri sauce (carbonara) and seafood (mussels, clams, & octopus) was absolutely delicious. The pasta was a little too al dente for me. I think it's preferred that way in some regions. I forgot to ask them to cook it longer. It's a thicker pasta, so I didn't really know. My husband's pizza looked wonderful. He appeared to enjoy it. I'll let him write his own review.
I would definitely revisit if ever in Lido di Ostia again. There were so many great options on the menu with affordable prices. It appears to be a popular restaurant. There weren't many seats left indoor or outdoor as we were leaving. The cooler weather in the month of May was perfect. It was a...
Read moreWe arrived without a table booked, and got a table right away. The host was friendly and smiling. The place is wonderful, decoration is incredible. Nice music, not too loud. Very nice for bringing the family. They have a printed menu in Italian, and option of QR code for menu in English. For almost 10 minutes no one came to take our order for beverages or anything. I went to ask if I needed to order from the till, but was told to wait at the table. After a few minutes the waiter came and was very friendly. Only thing is that they don't like it too much when you order only one dish, even if you are eating at 10pm. Someone opened the emergency door near our table to smoke, and it began to get cold inside. We had to ask for it to be addressed. The food arrived in a great presentation, dishes are beautiful, and the taste is amazing. We had the prawn gnocchi (had 2 prawns in it) and the carbonara for my daughter (the bacon is incredible). They have option of house white wine, and its delicious. Red house is not available. We had twice some street vendors offering flowers inside the restaurant. Seems like something normal here. Overall the food is delicious, quite pricey, and fair portions. The service is friendly, but a bit snobby and inefficient at times. They receive a big group when were asking for the bill and 3 members of staff began moving tables, so we were kind of kicked out. Paying at the desk was not so friendly, with the lady there. Did not show us the bill and only told us the...
