An absolute highlight of our trip to Italy and a special request of our adult son, was going truffle hunting this spring with Alessandro and Mocha, Phillipe and Dara. On a cool and rainy morning (we brought rain jackets so we said let's go!), Alessandro whisked the 3 of us away to a forested area outside of Sienna. Just to get out in the countryside was wonderful! Mocha and puppy-in-training, Dara, quickly and happily went to work. Within minutes, we were digging our first truffles! Just to watch the pups work and see how much they and their humans loved truffle hunting and how they communicated together to find the treasures made it even more enjoyable. But you have to be quick! The pups love truffles as much as we do. So the challenge is to get the truffle before the pup eats it! But then, of course, exchange it for a tasty treat reward. My fellow traveller and I noticed this little place (mostly closed up but there was a small window in the wall in which we could see some of the products on display), as we were proceeding to our seats in preparation for the Paleo on August 16th. We returned the next day and were delighted to find it opened.The owner treated us to a generous product sampling. The items really were delicious. There were truffle chips, olive oils flavoured with truffle and ditto soft cheese spreads.Balsamic vinegars also got the truffle treatment and there was more! You will be hard pressed to leave with nothing!

Given that the owner/host is also the truffle hunter you will be assured of knowledgable assistance from a most congenial chap.

Absolutely amazing and educational experience! Alexander was very nice and took us on a beautiful morning hike up the forest. I was able to learn how and where truffles could be formed and the different kinds of truffles. We were greeted by Moka, an adorable truffle hunting dog, who helped us dig up 6 enormous black summer truffles in total. After this, we had a thirty minute truffle product tasting session which was yummy and satisfying. Highly recommend this tour for any...
