Prètto Prosciutteria e Convivio — Restaurant in Siena

Certainly not cheap by any standards for the pizza shown in the picture, except the three euro house wine which was decent.

Service was lacklustre, and while the restaurant does not offer any baby seat for my young kid, it still charges a two euro cover charge on my kid. There was also no bread/biscuits included as part of the cover charge either. Ate numerous meals in my two weeks long trip in Rome, Florence and Venice and did not see restaurants charging cover charge on kids, let alone young kid where the restaurant could not even offer a baby seat.

Coupled with a very normal pizza, seriously can't tell how it gets its 4.5 rating (at the point of writing this review). Sadly a taint to the fine reputation Siena has among tourists.

Update: Judging by how the restaurant responded, especially the 'pinsa' instead of 'pizza', I sincerely hope the owners have the heart to improve their service offerings, in the name of Siena, a beautiful...

The steak (tagliata) is exception, best steak I had so far in Tuscany. It is buttery and melts in the mouth. It’s also well seasoned with salt and capers, and has a rich beefy taste to it. The price is reasonable for its quality (€20). I will highly recommend it. The tagliata pecorino (steak with goat cheese sauce and caramelised onions) is even MORE delicious, highly recommend it as well. We’ve also ordered the beef stomach sandwich (lampredotto sandwich). The bun is crispy yet soft, and is filled with thinly sliced beef stomach. The sliced beef is soft, fresh, and has a deep beef flavour; the fresh chimichuri pairs perfectly with the beef. The portion is generous, and at good price (€10).

Tuscany board and bread is alright, nothing surprising.

All in all, the steak is a must order, and order it with the goat cheese and caramelised onions...

Super authentic Sienese dishes. The best we had was the spit roasted pork and potatoes and osso bucco. Both delicious, but the pork had a flavor far superior to any pork we have had in USA. Primary patrons a were a local group of men, perhaps family, and others joining later who all seemed to know each other. We also enjoyed olives and sun Dried tomatoes. Roasted vegetables were non descript. This is a tiny restaurant (like many)and we had made an early reservation so were among the first diners to arrive. House wine was a boxed Chianti - not great.
