Dear Valentina, I would like to express my perspective on the matter. During our trip to Sicily last week, my child and I visited your establishment at approximately 18:45. Whilst there, our 10-year-old son rested on a chair provided by your store, and a porcelain item placed adjacent to the chair sustained damage (though it did not shatter). Promptly, your employee informed us that we might be held liable for compensation and requested a payment of 20€. We did not seek to evade responsibility or abscond from the scene. I endeavored to purchase an item in your store as a gesture of contrition; however, I was unable to locate a suitable porcelain item.
My rationale for assigning a 1 ⭐️ rating is fourfold:
Your employee informed us that, if we did not compensate for the damaged porcelain item, she would be subject to personal liability at the behest of her employer. In the store, I pointed out the illegality of such a request by the employer. Your employee sought to require us to purchase the damaged item for 15€ (original price 20€). I contested this demand, as the item was located within a customer rest area rather than a display area, thus exposing it to damage by any patron who sat on the chair. I proposed that I would leave a copy of my ID card and hotel information, My aim was to solicit the involvement of local legal departments or commercial and consumer protection agencies to facilitate a resolution. Regrettably, all my requests were summarily declined. Your employee neglected to consider the impact of their communication on the wellbeing of the minor children present. Ultimately, to resolve the dispute, my wife paid your employee 10€, though we did not receive any products or receipts.
In conclusion, it is my expectation that your store operates with the highest ethical standards and a compassionate demeanor towards its patrons. Unfortunately, these sentiments were not reflected in our experience on the night in...
Read moreDo not shop in this establishment. My wife had gone back to the states and the product they shipped was cracked. I am still in Siracusa, she sent me pictures, showed the pictures to the owner, she said “I am sorry but I can only give you 20% off, when I said “that’s not acceptable, she said that’s the best I can do, she went back-and-forth. She said all I will give you 50% off. I told her I have a business similar to hers, in the states. If that situation happened in my store, I would refund it or replaced it for free. Unfortunately, my wife wanted the plate again, so I ended up buying it for her. We are only talking about $17.50., It’s not the money it’s the principal. By the way they never offered insurance for the shipment. The packaging for all the plates was very well done, the only reason I can think the one single plate broke was a manufacturing defect, which shows, whatever there standers are, this plate didn’t meet it. If they can’t take care of their customers, people should not be...
Read moreGreat apartment, well located within walking distance of everything in Ortigia but quiet and calm.
There is one double bed plus a sofa-bed; we have two children (8 and 10) and the sofa-bed was fine for them.
The apartment has air-conditioning (essential in Sicily in August), great shower, well appointed kitchen with gas hob (real coffee and coffee maker provided), oven and fridge freezer, plus a large dining table so you can buy fresh fish and veg at the (excellent) daily market and cook for yourself if you want to (we did a few times). There is also a washing machine.
But the best bit was the owner Silvia who communicates in perfect English and is a great host, answering all our questions no matter how silly, and providing advice and recommendations for things to do during our stay.
We have stayed in a few apartments and houses over the years, and this one definitely...
