Marco Polo Lounge: Where Logic, Service, and Taste Go to Die
Ah, the Marco Polo Lounge—named, quite fittingly, after a man who spent 24 years traveling and still would’ve turned around after 10 minutes here.
Let’s kick off with their baffling entrance policy: one adult and one child under 3 per gold card holder. Under 3? Really? What kind of utopian fantasy expects a toddler over 3 to be an independent traveler? “Here you go, kiddo—gate’s that way, good luck finding your juice box.” I’ve seen a lot in my years of flying internationally, but this policy deserves its own stand-up routine.
Now, onto the “service.” Beverages are not self-serve, because nothing says “premium experience” like waiting behind ten cappuccino orders just to get a glass of wine. Ten minutes for something that should take ten seconds. It’s Italian bureaucracy distilled into wine service form. Bravo.
And the food. Oh, the food. In a country where even gas station sandwiches are borderline Michelin-worthy, this lounge somehow serves up dry carbs and sad cheese like it was imported from a conference room in 2006. Italy deserves better. Frankly, so do I.
If you’re expecting efficiency, warmth, or even a basic sandwich that doesn’t cause existential doubt—keep walking. Marco Polo may have discovered new worlds, but this lounge is still lost in...
Read moreThe Marco Polo Priority Pass lounge is located on the third floor above terminal 15, at the top of the escalator. It's a vast lounge, with lots of different seating options, configurations, nooks and crannies, for every travelers needs.
You have to get past all the security checkpoints, to access the lounge. It's past the all the Duty Free shops and to then to the right. Of course, you'll need a valid boarding pass and your membership card.
I've added a bunch of lounge pics. The food was good, the have a full cafe setup, along with tasty pastries, cookies, snacks, and drinks. Bar options seemed limited. Wine only, didn't see any beer or liquor offerings.
Lounge is large, comfy, and clean. The staff never stopped picking up trash, bussing tables, wiping down surfaces, and rearranging seats. Bathrooms are some of the cleanest I've seen at any lounge.
We have a free membership associated with our Capitol One Venture X Credit Card.
It's $500 US a year but it pays for itself when you take advantage of all the travel perks associated with this card. You'll need to have excellent credit to qualify, but it's a nice perk on top of all the other travel points and discounts, use this steward code and my referral link and we both get...
Read morePretty good lounge in Venice - it’s also the only lounge at the airport. It’s steadily busy but seating is possible to find. There’s an outdoor area overlooking the runway and also a “garden” area with lots of greenery which helps the atmosphere. Restrooms have a nursery area for parents and are floor to ceiling private stalls.
All drinks are served by the attendants which can create a bit of a line. There’s a full coffee machine for cappuccinos, espressos and the like. A small selection of bottle drinks are also available: still or sparkling bottle water, Coke, iced teas, juices (apple, pear, peach, etc) but you must get these from the attendants too.
The food selection is quite pleasant. There’s focaccia, sandwiches, croissants, cookies, tarts, cake slices, and also a few cooked items like eggplant parmigiana and lasagna. The lasagna was surprisingly delightful.
Some yogurts, packaged green salads and fruit salads also on offer.
For most travellers, this lounge is before Passport Control. There was no line when I went through so it only took a few minutes but something to be aware of, especially since they don’t do announcements.
I entered as a Business class traveller but I believe Priority Pass is...
