I don't mind going a bit out of the city to have dinner, but honestly this restaurant was very disappointing. The prices range from 10-12 for a dish, which is on the cheaper side in Venice and it's definitely represented in the food. I will try to be constructive, but this restaurant is typical why non-vegans don't like vegan food. I am vegan and even for me it was not satisfying, rather disappointing. I go to restaurants to have a different experience than the one in my kitchen, but this was just worse. The food was plain, most of it didn't seem fresh, very boring presentation, not creative. There is no direction, no sharpness, no soul. The house red wine was very harsh, nothing refined in taste. Regretted taking half a liter of it. All of it gave me the feeling the owners became very lazy just because they are the only full vegan restaurant in Venice, they can do whatever and people will still come. Or maybe they don't have any taste. We had the lasagna with seitan, the gazpacho, the seitan roast and the vegan cheese platter. The lasagne wasn't warmed up enough, so the inside was still cold. As I worked in a restaurant before I could tell the lasagne was maybe on it's second or third day. The portion was too big for a primi piatti. The dough of the lasagne had become all too soft, overcooked, everything tasted the same. The gazpacho was ok, nothing special. Not enough salt. The seitan roast was presented with overcooked carrots, that were cut in a boring way. The potatoes were something in between fries and cooked, again, there is no direction, no vision. The seitan had a nice texture and it was the best thing on the plate, but it didn't make up for the total dish, unfortunately. The cheese plate was presented with vegan meat and some jam. Again very boring presentation. Plus what am I supposed to eat the cheese with? You could have a nicely baked fresh bread with it.... There was the bread that they gave at the beginning when we seated. But the texture of this bread, it was falling apart, didn't taste good, didn't taste fresh. I didn't have dessert because I didn't want more disappointment. Service was good. If you want to eat cheap, vegan, have very low expectations of what a decent restaurant should be, you can go here. But if you are looking for people who are actually creative and passionate about vegan food, rather than just being vegan and that's that, don't go there.

Read moreWe found this vegan restaurant in Venice disappointing. We had 2 appetizers; a “Russian Salad” which is a scoop of cold potato salad with almond mayonnese, peas, carrots, pickles and capers. We also ordered their “Eggplant Saor”, which is a scoop of Fried eggplant with onions, pine nuts and raisins. Both these appetizers were terrible. Presentation was nice but taste was unappetizing. Who wants cold, nearly-raw food for dinner? The onion in the eggplant dish was so raw that we had the haunting taste of it in our mouth all night and until the following day. It was awful. We were hesitant about ordering entrées, but it was late and we were so hungry, so we opted to split the lasagna and a tiramisu for dessert. They were both ok. Much better than the appetizers. Portions here are really small, food is expensive, and menu items are odd. I think they’re too many random dishes ranging from cold potato salad, to a pad thai noodle thing to a ravioli. My advice is to focus on one style of cusine and do it well. Sadly we left hungry and disappointed. I hope this restaurant considers improving their menu to provide more appealing, dinner-appropriate meal options, as opposed to the small scoops of cold, semi-raw, flavorless, over-priced food we received. Much room for improvement. This restaurant is far from downtown and in a very quiet neighborhood (30 min walk from Rialto bridge or a $80 euro water taxi) and although it wasn’t busy, reservations days in advance were required. Unfortunately Venice is not a vegan-friendly city and be prepared that its a very challenging place for vegan visitors. Food options are extremely limited; so its this place or a plate of spaghetti with jarred tomato...
Read moreI have been to vegan restaurants in Italy(Milan and Rome) before I came to La Tecia Vegana. So I have something to compare. I ate there two days.
Both days I couldn't get cannoli.
The first day(05-08-2023) the service was very good. The waitress was very kind og warm. The food was under average.I got lasagne and tiramisu.
The next time(07-08-2023) the service was very cold and bad. I was serviced by an older woman and a younger girl. The older woman was very cold and the younger girl was ignoring me. The service was very slow that day. I came early(6 pm) and had a reservation and wanted to get a table inside, but I couldn't get a table inside. The first 30 minutes the older woman serviced me. But after a while she didn't come outside, so it was only the younger woman who serviced outside. After I was done with my ravoli I wanted to order a dessert. I tried to make eye contact with the younger woman many times(she saw me) but she didn't come to my table. I waited 30 minutes before she took my plate. Not something I have experienced before. That day I had gnocchi and ravoli. Both dishes under average.
I have never experienced this bad of a service in a vegan restaurant before. I have been to vegan restaurants in Barcelona, Mykonos, Athen, Seville, New York, London and Thailand. Something like this had never happened. I would normally not leave a bad review on a vegan restaurant(I am vegan myself) but the 2nd day...
