Mugen no Sato onsen — Local services in Beppu

One of the best onsen in Beppu!!! I love waterfalls, nature, onsen and sulfur water... and this onsen combines all of them! Only private, entrance ¥2500-¥3000 (price per onsen for one hour - 50 min. during weekends), shampoos provided, you need to bring your own towel. Operating hours 10:00-18:00, there is parking. Pay at the friendly reception where you can also collect your onsen stamp (both Beppu and Kyushu stamps). The waterfall onsen was like a dream... it's a nice wooden cabin all for yourself with a changing room and an outdoor tub just next to the river and a 6-7 meters waterfall which is splashing just next to you! When I visited it had been raining for two days in a row so there was quite a lot of water coming down from the waterfall, water spray all over and the sun shining making rainbows here and there... the tub is medium to small size, made of wood on the edge of a platform next to a few big rocks. The water is sulfuric with milky white color and temperature was not boiling hot which made it excellent for longer soaks. Bathing while watching the waterfall and hearing the water was just magical. One hour was not enough, I could stay there all day! Totally recommended, it's very much...

We used the private taki no yu onsen room It was 3000 yen per hour. It was worth every penny for us.

The taki no yu is the private onsen that has the waterfall view, the water was also milky in colour. I had a silver ring on and it turned black after the bath!! (Which means it has sulfur in the bath!!)♡

We had been to other onsens consecutively prior to bathing there, and we felt a difference from bathing in this one.

It's good for your eyes, body & soul.

The staff we're also very helpful, theu asked if we needed a booking for taxi on our way back. Also one staff member was also speaking english!

On the website it says no bookings, but they should take bookings for the private onsen rooms. They may close due to weather conditions so call ahead!

Great experience here! We wanted the waterfall onsen and so did other guests we came with, we loved the onsen and spent an hour relaxing in the lobby afterward while the other guests we carpooled with used it next. The hosts were very curteous and kind! they served us water as we sat on their nice couches in the lobby, which was perfect afterward. Great service and great place!
