Spent one night in the hotel with my family, away temporarily from Fukuoka. The hotel is situated on the hillside, and the building and the interior design were both spectacular. The entire hotel has been oozing out a contemporary vibe, not bad when most of the onsen hotels in Japan are all traditional-looking.||The rooms are huge, each with a big balcony and a private onsen facing the Beppu Bay, and one should not miss the private sunrise show in the morning. ||However, there are three issues that I had witnessed during my short stay.||1. The food at the Peak is not as good as it is promoted. We had dinner at the Peak during our stay, and on top of the set menu, we opted for the beef and lobster. The beef was super salty which they didn’t even care to ask how well should be served, and the two lobster dishes were a true debacle. They were not fresh at all, and the texture were rather jelly like, and the size was tiny. We were literally just eating some lobster meat mixed with a lot of mushroom and cheese. Other dishes were just ok, and didn’t entirely live up to what we expected.||2. The walls in the rooms were dusty, like in the living room around the toilet and bed, the onsen room and the balcony. You can even see spider web in the onsen room and the balcony. It is surprising given it is a rather new hotel. I didn’t mention the shower room, as it was simply too dark to tell even during the day.| |3. One last thing, is the in-room onsen. They have a running hot onsen water flowing into the tub, and guests were advised to adjust the temperature using the cold water tap. There is no measurement or thermometer, so literally you can only just wait for the water to cool down or reach the bath-able temperature by trial and error. I expect they can do better than just caring about the signature spherical light...
Read moreI had a pleasant stay at this hotel, and a few highlights truly stood out. First and foremost, the service was excellent—it’s rare to find a hotel that goes the extra mile by providing you additional towels and coffee and tea , even when room service isn’t required. Such attention to detail is genuinely appreciated.
The in-room hot spring experience was a unique and delightful feature. The hot spring water flows continuously into your bathtub, allowing you to enjoy it whenever you please. The view from the room was breathtaking, making the experience even more special. However, it’s worth noting that the sulfur content in the spring water might leave a slight sulfur smell in the room, even with the washroom doors closed. Additionally, the shower area was a bit too dark for comfort, and the room could benefit from having more multiple plug sockets for travelers.
Breakfast was another highlight of the stay—delicious and satisfying. You get to choose a main dish from the menu, accompanied by a semi-buffet selection of fresh salads, fruits, cold cuts, and drinks. It was a great way to start the day.
There was also ample parking space, which made it convenient for those driving to the location. Given the hotel’s less accessible location for public transport, driving is highly recommended. As a bonus, there’s a 24-hour supermarket just a 6-minute drive away, ensuring that late check-ins won’t leave you worrying about dinner options.
Overall, it’s a lovely place with unique features and thoughtful service. I’d recommend it to those looking for a relaxing getaway with a hot...
Read moreOur stay at Galleria Midobaru was one of the highlights of our trip to Beppu. The rooms were spacious and beautifully designed, and the private onsen that opened up to a balcony with an unbelievable view of the city was truly unforgettable.
The room had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing stay. There is a private onsen in each room that opens up to an ultra-private balcony area. Every room has incredible views of Beppu city.
The hotel’s location was also great—just a short 10-minute walk from another wonderful onsen we visited.
We added breakfast to our stay, and it was definitely worth it. The buffet, with its fresh bread, salads, and coffee, was the perfect way to start the day. We also tried both the course dinner and the à la carte dinner, and both were absolutely amazing.
What made the experience even better was the staff. Everyone was kind and professional, and two people in particular stood out. One young man (whose name we unfortunately never learned) helped us at check in and and was very helpful. Also a very special thanks to Wakana was incredibly patient and kind helping us at check out. Her English is so wonderful; I was only sad that my Japanese is still developing so I could express how much of a great time we had.
Overall, it was peaceful, luxurious, and one of the most relaxing places we’ve ever stayed. Highly recommend Galleria Midobaru to anyone...
