Yahata onsen — Local services in Beppu

Superb local onsen!! Entrance ¥100, Beppu onsen stamp at the reception. You need to bring your own shampoos and towel. Operation time 06:00-12:00 & 14:00-23:00, one parking space. You can see your stuff while bathing, no lockers. Three places to wash up with shower heads and a stool but you can always sit on the ground and use the bucket with the onsen water. The tub is small size oval shape with blue tiles at the bottom. Although the tub is small there is plenty of space around it. Adding hot water in the tub you need to lift the wooden column inside the source. Adding cold water you need to open up the lever next to the source. If there are locals present ask them if it's ok to mess up with the water temperature, don't forget to close BOTH when you leave. The water is colorless. Measured the source water with a thermometer at 66°C, the cold water from the taps is underground water so its quite cold at 17°C, perfect for a cold splash after the onsen during the Summer days. Nice and clean facilities, very friendly locals! I was even stopped by a local granma two blocks away asking me if I enjoyed the onsen! 別府市朝見町にある温泉。 名前の通り八幡朝見神社のすぐ近くにあります。別府といえばやはり温泉。市内にはこのような小さな銭湯の様な温泉がいくつもあります。入浴料は200円。地元の方も利用されるのでご迷惑をかけないように。石鹸シャンプータオル一式は全て自分で用意しましょう。体を洗う時は座ったまま洗うように。立って流すと場所が狭いため周りや浴槽に飛びますので。浴槽は真ん中に1つ。別府温泉の透明なお湯で旅の疲れを癒やしてきました。住んでいる場所にマッピングする地図が貼ってあったので私も地元北海道にピンを刺しました。見た限り私が1番遠いところから来ているようです。温泉上がりに番頭さんに北海道から来たとい...
