O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay! That to write a review, I should be swayed, Of a hospital!
I had been here several times before, as an outpatient. I must admit that I was a bit put off by the crowds and the overworked âsystem.â Then my doctor recommended that I have a growth on my nose removed surgically (like Pinocchio, I must have told too many lies). So I checked in. The food was typically bland hospital fare, but the nutritionist tried to accomodate my finicky ways. Still it contained quite a bit of Japanese vegetation that the rest of the world would not consider âfood,â but no problemo: I could always go downstairs to supplement my meals with steak, roast beef, or pear tarts. The doctors were a bit apprehensive at first, wondering about my Japanese language ability. I confess, itâs not that good. Once they saw that the operation was a success (praising the surgeon, they repeatedly said, âCrazy mixed-up clean,â my translation of âmecha-kucha kireiâ) and cheered up. From start to finish the doctors were extremely proficient, congenial, and responsive to my needs. The nursing staff rotate through the wards, so you see one all day, another all night, the next day different ones. It appears that their main job description is to be your âFriend for a Dayâ (or âfor a Nightâ), though nursing skills are present if needed. I had several nice encounters. Two or three in particular (though their names flew by like âharu ichiban,â the first wind of springtime) made a very good impression. The fourth made more of a point of showing me her name tag: K.T.. Thinking back, those days that I spent with K.T. and her sisters as my Friends were among the happiest days of my life, despite being...
Read moreIâve been receiving outpatient and inpatient care at Kyushu University Hospital, and Iâm truly impressed with the quality of their services. My doctor, Dr. Hisamatsu, is truly outstanding. He is highly experienced, very knowledgeable, and always patient with my many questions and concerns. He explains everything clearly and kindly, and his positive energy about my treatment plan gives me so much reassurance. Because of him, I feel completely confident in the care I am receiving. I also want to acknowledge my English translator, Ms. Arita, who has been incredibly supportive. She consistently goes above and beyond to help with documents, explanations, and any concerns I have. Her kindness makes every visit so much easier and less stressful. The nurses are warm, skilled, and attentive. Their gentle approach and professionalism make each treatment session more comfortable. Another point I greatly appreciate is the convenience of the hospitalâs app payment system. I can settle my bills quickly without waiting in long lines, and I can go home as soon as the billing assessment is done. The accounting/cashier staff, including two English-speaking members, are always helpful and make the process smooth. I am truly grateful for the excellent doctors, nurses, staff, and facilities at Kyushu University Hospital. I feel confident that I am receiving world-class medical care, and I strongly believe I will continue to get better under their guidance. Thank you so much...
Read moreWorst services for inpatients hospitalized here. There will always be random doctors evaluating your condition, like in my case, Doctor Okita (ophthalmology), she always seemed to be lost and clueless during my exam. I always felt like a waste of time as she wouldn't say anything at all. I wonder how experienced she is. The main doctors are very difficult to be reached out and they will leave you without your test results until you repeatedly ask them for your diagnosis. Took me almost 7 days waiting and having no idea what did I have. And, as an inpatient, the care service in this hospital is terrible. Staffs (nurses and head nurses) have no idea about their own rules and are unable and won't even bother to help you with simple requests and questions. They couldn't even provide me a simple document that I requested from day 1 and I'm already hospitalized here for more than a week. I showed them exactly what I needed (going out permission) as it is in the booklet they give you before your admission, but, apparently it is not updated and full of misleading information. In the end, they will just keep on escalating your request to the person above and above without ever coming to a solution. Had to solve it myself by talking directly to the Social Worker department. There's a big lack of professionalism and ethic on the 11th floor. Hope you'll never need...
