Lalaporta Mall is a fantastic shopping destination that impresses with its cleanliness and variety of stores. During my visit, I was struck by how well-maintained the entire mall is, making for a pleasant and comfortable shopping experience.

Read moreGreat place to shop local brands and local restaurants that's close to Hakata station/central Hakata. My teenage son had a difficult time at other malls to find cool shops to buy clothes and this was the best place we found. The place also had lots of restaurant options. We had delicious udon and the Japanese version of bulgogi but it seemed the seafood tempura donburi shop was very popular which we will go back and try. The matcha soft serve and desserts were also great at Iyemon Cafe. I also found one answers adorable Kirby plush for 1 of my other kids who wasn't with me on this trip. There's an enormous robot in the front and lovely outdoor areas for young kids. It also has a Kidzania which my boys loved going to when they were young when we lived in Bangkok. I saw more babies and young families here than I ever saw on my many trips to Japan. Seemed like everyone at the mall had at least 1 child so it's a very family...

One of the best parts is that many shops offer tax-free shopping, allowing travelers to process tax refunds directly at the store without having to line up separately. The mall also has brands that appeal to teenagers, making it a great shopping spot for all ages.
The only downside is that it's a bit far from the city center. I took a taxi to get there, and it cost about 2,000 yen. Despite the distance, I still enjoyed spending the whole day...
