Sawawa — Local services in Kawagoe

🟩 Sawawa is a Kawagoe ( Saitama) matcha green tea shop. ❇️ The desserts, sweets & confectionery are mainly for takeaways.

🟦 The shop is easily identified by the large matcha grinding mill set outside the shop encased in a glass case. 🟢 There is also a large matcha soft-serve acrylic cone replica display at the other end of the store.

🟧 Sawawa is a popular purveyor of matcha related sweets & wagashi ( ie Japanese traditional confectionery).

✅️ It sells an assortment of green tea products like matcha warabi-mochi, matcha coated chocolate balls, green tea daifukus, Japanese dorayaki pancakes filled with matcha cream fillings, matcha ice-cream takeaway cones and matcha wafers etc. ( ☑️ these items were what I had observed while taking photos in the shop)

🟣 Some of its products, like the Matcha Kudzu Warabi Mochi I bought was made in Kyoto, but sold at Sawawa shop in Kawagoe. 💚 Maccha 摸茶 Kudzu Waramochi. ( the dessert confectionery I bought)

🟢This is one of the best warabi-mochis I've eaten. Warabi-mochi is a type of soft & wobbly Japanese jelly made from Bracken plants.🌿

🟨 Bought this in Kawagoe, Saitama prefecture. ✔️The warabi mochi is actually a product of Kyoto.

🟢 This particular warabi jelly has been infused with organic brown sugar. And you eat the super soft jelly with honey & you dust the warabi with kinako (roasted soy bean powder) mixed with matcha powder.

💙Texture wise: The warabi-mochi is super smooth, soft and melts in the mouth. This is one of the best quality warabi-mochi I have eaten so far.

We were walking along the historical street and chanced upon this matcha shop selling made to order matcha tea and matcha ice cream as well. There was a small area inside the shop for one to eat their ice cream or drink their tea. I ordered the hot matcha and I liked it. The matcha was fragrant and a very strong green tea taste. 店員さんのモラルは日本で一番最低のレベル！

今日人生で悲しいことがあり、すごく悔しかったのでシェアさせてもらいます。

イートインコーナーの席が6つしかありません。ここのお店のルールは、品物を買ってから座るというルールのようです。

先着2名、私と連れがわらび餅を買い、イートインにしました。これで4名埋まりました。

ここでちょうど杖のついた明らかに足の悪いおばあちゃん(恐らく80歳超え)と息子さんが来店。足の悪いおばあちゃんを先に席にかけ、レジに向かった息子さん。

店員は一人の若い男性のみ。 レジからおばあちゃんに走って行き、大声で「ここは先に買ってからおかけください。」と叫んでレジに戻る。

ここでタイミング悪く、息子さんの前に若いカップルがレジに先についたようだ。しかも若いカップルもイートイン希望。つまりおばあちゃんと息子は座れない。

でも明らかに外は炎天下、駅まではかなり歩くし、他の店も混んでいるので、私たちがおばあちゃんに席を譲った。おばあちゃんが席を移動して私たちの席に座る。

私達はまだわらび餅を食べ切れてなかったので、立って食べていた。

するとびっくり仰天、店員の男性がまた走ってきて、今度はお店の外まで聞こえるような大声で、「お客様はイートインの料金で買ったので、遠慮なく座ってください。買ってない人は座らないでください。」と叫んだ。2回も。

は？

誰に席を譲ろうが、こっちの自由だろうが！

イートインの料金だろうがなんだろうが、たかだか2%の税率で足の悪い人やお年寄りの人権まで奪われる貧しい国になったのか。 人の心っていうのはないのか。

金とかイートインの税率の問題じゃなくて、お年寄りを敬う、足が悪い人に気を遣える、そんな簡単なことができないのか。

イートインの税率を払う奴が偉いのか。 足が悪かったら座る権利はないのか。 人間の尊厳はないのか。 接客として間違っている。

しかも、わざわざ大声で譲った私達に「お客様はイートインの料金を払っているので遠慮なく座ってください。」って余計だよね？金払ってようがなんだろうが、こっちは譲りたいんだよ。こっちの自由だろうが。なんで店員の指示で私達までお年寄り差別しなきゃいけないのか。

今なら腹の底から怒りが湧いて言葉が出てくるが、その瞬間はただただびっくりして言葉がでなかった。そうしているうちに、息子さんがおばあちゃんを連れて出て行った。おばあちゃんは最後まで何が起きたのかわからないようだった。

私達はただ呆然と立ち尽くした。 店員さんは何事もなく、平然と会計を進めていた。

この店員さんは、何をしたかったのか。 おばあちゃんに意地悪をしたかったのか。自分のおばあちゃんにも同じことができるのか。 おばあちゃんの尊厳もそうだが、私達の尊厳も傷ついた。足の悪いおばあちゃんの前で平然と座れるほど、私達は人間として腐っていない。

帰りの電車で、悔しくて泣いた。 日本の豊かさは先人達の努力でここまで発達してきた。私たちのおばあちゃんおじいちゃんがなくて今の社会はない。そして、金払う云々の前に、人間としての尊厳は、...
