I visited shortly after the branch was initially opened and before it became famous and it was a very pleasant experience. However, I have visited it several times since and due to its popularity it is not as pleasant when the place is so busy you have to queue out the door to get served.
Despite that, it is definitely my favourite Starbucks, not just in Saitama nor Japan, but worldwide. Supposedly there is one in Kyoto that is equally beautiful, but this new branch in Kawagoe is rivalling it for the title of Japan's most beautiful Starbucks!
The branch was designed to look like (on the outside) the Edo period buildings that Kawagoe is famous for. Inside it is a striking mix of earthen woods and modern concrete. There is a stunning zen garden out back. The building has been featured in a number of architectural magazines. THe downside of its fame and popularity: it is near on impossible to get a seat at the weekend. However, the good news - it opens early and, in my experience, is less busy early morning. Plus if you can visit on a morning during the week not only is it easy to get a seat, it is tranquil and you can enjoy the quiet zen ambiance more!

Upon entering, the store's interior presents a unique blend of modern and Japanese design elements. The high windows open up the space, offering a clear view to the expansive ceiling and extending the line of sight toward the tranquil Japanese-style garden at the rear of the establishment.
While the experience promises visual comfort, it's wise to plan your visit strategically. Weekends and holidays often draw larger crowds, resulting in waiting times. Opting for a weekday visit ensures a more relaxed atmosphere without the need for queues.
Moreover, the store provides a note detailing consumption specifics, including the bathroom password for access—a thoughtful addition to the experience. This attention to detail ensures a seamless and convenient visit, adding to the overall appeal of enjoying a Starbucks moment within this...

Visited with 3 people and fell in love with this Edo-style Starbucks in Kawagoe! The building blends beautifully into the historical street with a traditional wooden facade and noren curtain — so photogenic! 📷
Inside, the space is calm and welcoming, and the back garden surprised us with a lovely Japanese rock garden. You can sip your coffee while enjoying nature — total zen! 🪴
The interior design is refined, featuring sumi-e art and chalkboard illustrations of Kawagoe. We ordered drinks and snacks, and everything was tasty as expected. Though it's a popular spot, staff were polite and service was smooth.
A must-visit café for anyone strolling through Kawagoe!
