Went here to look for yukata. Their yukata prices range from about $50 all the way up to $350. They have the slip, ties, obi, and sandals available. Only shopped on the first floor so can't describe other wares available. The yukata I bought was $350 and of excellent quality. The pattern is based on a traditional kimono so it's not as summery and bright as many yukata you will find elsewhere. They had a fantastic range of colors and styles, it was great to see some things outside the ordinary. My friend bought a yukata that was $100 and the quality was still fantastic compared to other places we went to, highly recommend them for the quality. Additionally, sizes ranged from small to I think 3L, so plus size can be accommodated here.
The employees here were beyond excellent and went out of their way to be helpful and try to speak to us in English. The woman who helped us the most was amazing at pointing out good obis to try with our chosen yukata, and helped us try on and compare styles. It was so nice to have someone with a good eye assist in coordinating the pieces. From stepping in to the moment we left it was a fantastic...
Read moreThe whole shopping experience from entering to leaving the shop was exceptionally pleasant. Lady Hiroko, who is English-speaking and acquainted with foreigner guests, kindly accompanied me throughout the entire kimono shopping process. She gave me suggestions based on your shopping goal and experience. I ended up finding a lovely summer kimono with hortensia patterns and I am in love with it :) when she brought us to the second floor for checkout, I was astonished by the large and dazzling kimono fabric selection and accessories in stock. Apparently this is a shop where you can custom-make all kinds of beautiful high-end kimono. I already decided that next time I come to Kyoto I will revisit this shop to have something tailored for my size. Overall I was really happy with everything and all the staff. Strongly recommend those who are interested in getting a serious kimono set to come here to find your gem. It is more a high-end shop so having some budget would be ideal, and in my view it...
Read moreI am plus Size and wanted to buy a Kimono in Japan! I know it would be a difficult task, so I was also totally fine if I find a Yukata. I searched online for a Kimono Store since I don't like the "tourist" ones from the Material. So I found this one near Nijo-jo which I also wanted to visit, so I could join it on one Day:)
As I entered, everyone was very friendly. I was a rainy Day, the helped me with a hankerchief and tried to Day my jacket before entering, so sweet. I told them what I wanted and they had some in store in my size. One with my favourite colours: blue and purple! They helped me trying and choosing an Obi, and also showed me how to tie it (which I need to practice until my next Trip!). I can highly recomment them. They also offered tax-free buying to me, which can be a lot if you buy higher priced Kimono. I attached a photo of me wearing the Yukata and Obi I...
