We stayed during our honeymoon — and it was a truly exceptional experience. The staff at the front desk — and throughout the hotel — were incredibly warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. To celebrate our honeymoon, they treated us to some of the best cocktails we had in Japan — made with an exceptional gin — in their stylish lounge. The room itself was fantastic — unique layout, an amazing bathtub/shower room, and luxuries you’d expect from a high-end Japanese hotel, like fun toiletries. What really stood out was the Bang & Olufsen speaker in the room, which added to the experience.
The hotel’s location was perfect for us. It’s not in the middle of a busy tourist area, so it was peaceful and quiet — but still close to everything we needed. Convenient bus stops were nearby, and we had no trouble getting around. Being right across from Nijo Castle was a special treat — it’s a beautiful and unique spot that doesn’t attract the usual tourist crowds, so we really enjoyed the serene atmosphere.
We also loved the little extras — like being able to borrow books from the lobby’s library — the selection was fun and diverse. If we stayed again, we’d definitely go for a room with a patio. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone looking for a unique and peaceful...
Read moreExcellent hotel located right in front of Nijo Castle.||The building is modern and luxurious, and you can easily see that they have takeb care of all the details in the decoration and furniture. The staff, in addition to being friendly and polite, knows how to speak English (there are also foreign staff), so there are no problems when it comes to communicating if you don't know how to speak Japanese.||The room was spacious, and the beds very comfortable. In the room you will find a lot of amenities: from pajamas, slippers, and a bathrobe, to free coffee, tea, and bottles of water.|Our room had views to the castle, so it was great opening the curtains in the morning to a beautiful landscape.||On the ground floor there is a bar where you can have the last drink before going up to the room. They have quite an extensive menu with more than 50 different cocktails (including non-alcoholic ones too), and several categories of wine, champagnes, and liquors.||We really had a pleasant stay, we do not only recommend it, but we would like to repeat the experience if we...
Read moreThis property falls short of expectations and is in need of substantial updates. The walls and countertops are stained, the shower drain was clogged, and the outdated key system—requiring an oversized physical key—adds unnecessary inconvenience.
Most notably, the lighting throughout the space is extremely dim—so much so that reading or working for an extended period becomes difficult. While it's clear the intent was to create a calming ambiance, the result is uninviting and, at times, quite depressing. It’s difficult to read or work comfortably for any length of time, and there is no option for brighter lighting, which is a basic expectation. I found myself dreading the moments when I had to return to the room to rest
Given the condition and lack of attention to detail, it’s difficult to justify the price point. The experience is more in line with that of a budget motel. I had hoped for more, and unfortunately, I cannot recommend this property in its...
