As a foreigner who can only speak very basic Japanese I was a little hesitant to get my haircut in Japan, but after reading a bunch of reviews for a handful of barber shops in the area, I decided to take a chance with this one.

Mr. Takase not only exceeded my expectations but the whole experience was very enjoyable for me, especially since his English is so good! As reference, I showed him a picture of the type of haircut I was going for and I left his shop feeling much more confident with a cleaner cut!

I recommend everyone to stop here if you need a cut while in Kyoto. It’s also next door to the Kyoto Imperial Palace so you could even do both...

Best barber in Kyoto. Visit this place every time im in Kyoto and need a cut. Friendly and highly skilled barber, and since he have Kyoto university professors (foreigner) as regular customers he is welcoming to foreigners too :) It gets booked up on the weekends so make sure you...
