A beautiful and unforgettable 50th birthday in Kyoto! I celebrated my 50th birthday at Caren Kyoto with my family, and it was truly extraordinary. We were welcomed into the quiet grace of a traditional Japanese tea ceremony — an experience that felt timeless and deeply meaningful. Dressed in elegant kimonos, we learned from a Tea Master who guided us through every step with care and precision. Thanks to an excellent translator, we discovered the art of preparing matcha — a process that felt as meditative as it was beautiful. My wife and daughter even took turns whisking their own bowls of matcha. The tea was smooth, rich, and vibrant, but what made it unforgettable was the stillness — that rare sense of connection between past and present, family and tradition. If you’re visiting Kyoto and want a cultural experience that truly touches the heart, I can’t recommend Caren Kyoto enough.

They dress you up in the old japanese clothes made from silkand and take you through the tea ceremony experience. You can take pictures before the ceremony. To experience the japaness culture for dress and tea, this was great.

The best tea ceremony experience. The tea master is a lovely lady with so much knowledge. She patiently explained to us everything about the tea process and we even got to try to make our own tea!

We had a wonderful time here during our honeymoon in Japan. Our ceremony master and guide/hostess were lovely, engaging, and answered all our questions about the interesting history of the Tea ceremony. The kimonos are very high quality so it felt like our wedding day all over again (even though it was 7 months prior). We would highly recommend this to anyone with an interest in Japanese...

Absolutely amazing experience. The staff was friendly and super knowledgeable on kimono wearing, the history of tea ceremonies, and the different teas. They made me feel so beautiful and took so many pictures of myself and my spouse before the ceremony. And the ceremony was absolutely beautiful. The sweets and the tea were delicious as well.

They allow videos and pictures, which is...
