Such a nice and cozy boulderhal. The owner is very friendly and so are the people who climb here. It's very encouraging to hear people say "nice" and "sugoi" when you send a boulder.
I like the boulders. It's known that Japanese grading is harder than in the Netherlands. To me, this was partially true. From my experience, the 6A's and 6A+'s are much harder than in the Netherlands, yet one 6B+ felt like a 6B to me. The latter is the case because I'm on the taller side in Japan.
I got to boulder for 3 hours with loan chalk for a discounted price of 2200 yen. I'm pretty sure the price is the same with loan shoes, but I brought my own pair. At the end, I got a small towel with Tobito's logo as a gift.
I'd highly recommend this boulderhal, the positive vibes would have me coming back if I didn't have to...
Read moreYeah awesome little gym, they have 3 small rooms, beginner V0-V2, advanced V2-V6+ and monthly range. I'm not sure if that order changes with resets and stuff but it's got a pretty good number of climbs, and the grading feels pretty accurate.
They grade with tape, from a to z and 1-6 the letters are pretty self explanatory a is easy z is hard, the numbers on purple tape are easy with 1 very easy and 6 a bit harder, and white tape numbers are more advanced and same as before.
The climbs overlap a lot so if I'm doing Q it's just that one colour holds but there could also be a numbered climb near by which uses a lot of holds of different colours.
Overall it's a cool gym and they really use the space well to get as many climbs in there as possible.
Also they gave me and my mate a...
Read moreReally lovely gym!
Visited while on a holiday. I speak very little Japanese, and the staff don't speak much English, but they speak enough to check you in and ensure you know the ropes if you've climbed some before. They were very friendly and forgiving.
The gym itself is about three rooms of densely packed problems on wooden walls of varying pitch. The problems I climbed (ranging roughly V1 to V4) were interesting, required technique, and the grades seemed well-calibrated to me.
The other climbers there were also incredibly friendly; the gym seems to have a real sense of community and camaraderie.
I'm currently working out whether I can spare some time in my holiday schedule to climb here again. I would recommend this gym to other climbing friends if they were to...
