I wrote the review below but after speaking again with Birkenstock they have reviewed my issue and have been very kind to sort it out. I have changed my review from an 1 Star to an 5 star. Great customer service makes all the difference to a brand. Thank you Birkenstock I will continue to by a new pair of sandals from you every year.

I actually really love Birkenstock sandals and I have bought a pair every year for as long as I can remember. But this year I bought a pair of patent sandals that I just couldn’t break in. The shoes have ripped my feet to pieces. I wore them inside for a month to really give them a good chance but I just couldn’t get them to work for me. I feel really disappointed that Birkenstock weren’t willing to work with me to rectify this situation. I didn’t want a refund I just wanted a comfortable pair of sandals that I could wear without making my feet bleed. I really recommend that you don’t buy their patent sandals and go for their soft regular type. I am so surprised that Birkenstock have stone walled me on this problem and advise that your purchase carefully from them because not all of their shoes are what they would like you to believe and they may not be open to exchanging the poorly made designs for the lovely comfortable shoes that they have been famous for decades. Read moreI’m here to review an appalling experience. It’s clear they do not like tourists. It took a long time to be served but that’s ok I was willing to wait. During checkout there was a man around his 30s and I tried to pay via my phone. Instead of telling me I cannot tap on my phone he yells “card” he yells and also cursed (I don’t understand Japanese but I could tell he was saying things).
After giving him the card to swipe, he slaps it on the tray. I was taken aback.
What really confirmed the discrimination and disrespect was I asked for a plastic sleeve over the brown paper bag. I noticed the customer in front of me got it as it was raining outside. I asked for one and he said “no more don’t have” but I tried to explain that it’s raining and you just gave the lady (who was local) a bag.
So he pulls out the bag and throws the plastic bag at me. Ok, I accept so I put it over my brown bag but seeing how I was taking longer than expected (first time placing this over) he snatches it and puts it on.
Why lie?? Why snatch?? Why was this service so bad. My first pair of Birkenstocks and it left an unpleasant memory. Could management try to resolve this? Other reviews have said over and over that customer service is bad but this is just…...
Read moreCONS Side: Came to the store with the intention of buying a pair of birk but walked out there empty handed cz of the bad service experience. The overall store staffs are giving out the vibe that’s not welcoming. I’m not the kind of customer ask for extra attention but the BASIC respect like hi, thank you, goodbye are not there at all. I tot I am overreact but saw the comment from the review section has proved me that I’m right.
PROS side: if u request to try the shoes, they ll still help u measure ur feet.
Suggestions: maybe the store manager needs to offer encouraging and uplifting words to boost staff morale and energy...
