Daichi no Udon — Local services in Tokyo

Went to this udon place in Fukuoka and really loved it, found out that they have a store in Tokyo as well, so went to check it out. It's a bit of a walk from Takadanobaba Sta., and the outside of the store looks quite elegant, unlike the one I went to in Fukuoka, which was much more busy and casual looking. Once entered, though, the cozy atmosphere is pretty much the same, but brighter and more quiet. The guests demography seems the same, consists of all kinds of people from families with kids, couples and single guests of all age range. We went around 11:45 and there wasn't a line, but kept pretty busy. The price of the items seems to be generally ￥100 higher than the same items in Fukuoka, it's pretty reasonable as rent is so much higher here and still very low price for Tokyo standards (Goboten Udon is just ￥580). The food was still very good, big volume and Goboten fried fresh. I ordered an extra topping of fried shrimps (￥250), which were good too. Overall I'd definitely strongly recommend Daichi no Udon and hope they open a store closer to my area so I can go...

What a wonderful experience! I was afraid to go in there because the menu outside was hand written and impossible to understand for me but once inside, the kind waitress help me out in English and recommended me the special meal available on that day! I was very hungry and ask her to put extra meat and udon and damn, I was so close to not finish my bowl! The quantity was huge and the taste so good! The chef is just amazing! His energy is so communicative, always smiling and listen to very good reggae music! I asked if I could record him while he's preparing the udon freshly and in front of you and accepted kindly! Everything is freshly prepared and you can feel it in the taste! Their specialty is a translucent udon very copious. Definitely going back again to test everything on the menu!

So since it's became my favorite restaurant to eat at, I'll post photos of every different meal I ordered there. And next time I'll ask to the personnel to give me the name of the plate I post so you can know what to order if...

We showed up on a rainy Sunday night around 730pm. There is no English menu but the staff was working with us to help us order what we wanted. We ended up looking at Google review options to point out things we liked in our udon and they would point for the vending machine button that applied.

We did wish we looked around online a bit more. But still ordered something that tasted amazing. Their udon is unique and made of burdock from the Hakata region. Very chewy and almost translucent.

Definitely a must try if you are willing to go to a non English menu restaurant. There were mostly all locals eating there when we showed up.

We ordered the hot meat udon noodles with tempura. Added a side of don buri katsudon which was also a hit.

Their signature tempura is the burdock. Must try! It comes in certain udon dishes.
