Osoba no Kouga — Local services in Tokyo

Waited in line for 20 minutes before opening, only to be told 80% of their menu were “sold out” after being seated. Only 2 items were available (duck or vegetables). No oyster and uni soba. They did not sound one bit apologetic about it. They should have put a sign outside warning people. Service was not friendly. Food was overpriced for what it is, and I agree with the other comments. As for the food itself, the duck was very underwhelming and did not bring out the essence of duck. Here the duck meat was overcooked and not tender, the skin charred and burned beyond recognition. Four small pieces of wrinkled duck pieces, 3500 yen. The broth lacked duck flavors too so it’s closer to the standard fare. The vegetables were great though. Cold soba was perfectly cooked, hot soba was overcooked. So definitely not worth the trek and wait. By the way, this was my experience during lunch; not sure...

We came in without a reservation. They won't allow us to order the set menu, no explanation was given as to why. Other customers were able to order it.

The menu had a variety of Soba noodles. However, when we wanted to order, they only had 2-3 options available.

When we ordered the "mushroom" soba, it came with meat as well. My wife, who's a vegetarian, wasn't ready for that.

My suggestion - use Google translate for everything, and ask questions about every dish on the menu if you're not sure.
